When I first saw how much the orbs sold for, I was like "omg this is such an easy way to grind money and rep", so I went to do it for athena's. except for some stupid reason the event that literally is done for athena's fortune can't be sold to them. I mean come on Rare! It literally plays we shall sail together whenever you capture an orb, why can't I sell these to them?

By far the most laid-back gold farming method I’ve done as a solo. Was able to cross over into my first 1 million gold. Never ran into other ships on any of the servers I had to dive to! Will definitely be using this for a while. The faction rep is also a nice bonus!

Gold Hoarder strat: You should go to paradise spring, reroll Captains vault there (80 to 90 percent chance that the first bottle is there) and then just dig it up one time, kill the 3 skelletons and take the small golden crates they drop to your ship. rinse and repeat. Emissary 5 in 5 to 10 min. its also near plunder

Don’t harpoon the manifest barrel and drop it before getting the document or you’ll lose it forever. I always dive in the water and get the manifest document that way to ensure that it isn’t lost. also be sure to dive under the water and see if the key might be in that first set of wreckage. About 50% of the time it is.

Also, if you dive to the lost shipment voyage, when you come out of the water you need to immediately raise your sails or you might sell past the wreckage. It’s usually right there or near by the time you raise your sails.

So used to the days of grinding ashen vaults and stacking. Haven't played since season 6 so jumping back in, seeing all the changes has been pleasing but also a learning curve to say the least. So much has been reworked and added. Seeing this was definitely needed as last nights vaults didn't feel like they used to!

Do this before setting sail so you dont instantly dive so you can keep on refreshing the quest until you get a skelly camp one

Since the latest hotfix, (3.1.0.1) no loot is spawning in the captains room (both ashen and normal) so you cant currently do phase 1 to lvl your merchant emissary.

During my initial merchant grind to reach pirate legend, I would grind lost shipments, but there were so many times I would get back to back bugged out voyages and it drove me insane. I wish they added skelly camps sooner cause those are great for grinding merchant since it’s quick and always gives you the pringles can and two other merchant items in the ancient chest that gets at least a level and a half each time.

Sea forts get you to level 3 & 1/2 after competing and grabbing top room key. That is certainly faster than most of these methods and you get supplies.. also for Merchant - you can buy crates and that will get you over a level, so that lvl 4 after one sea fort

For OOS, the Treasury Raid is by far the fastest way to grade V. One OOS Treasury Raid will get you to grade IV, and this is 100% reliable. Then you simply sell, dive to ashen lord, or whatever you wish, and finish to grade V fast.

I do the ashen lost shipment but start at Ancient Spire using the Story Teller tall tale dive. Cancel Story Teller then select the ashen shipment until you get Plunder to Morrows. Sail to Crows Nest first. You will likely find the key here. If not there will be a clue and loot. Proceed to finish. There are only 5 locations for the wreck. This saves about 10 minutes per run.

The easiest and possibly fastest way that I found to get Merchant to Lvl 5 is doing the Marrow's Peak to Galleons Grave lost shipment voyage and visa versa. The first bird locations for both are always in the same spot. Then you cycle the voyage til the key spawns in the water and the ship will always be visible from the end location. It is really effective, and sometimes you can get lucky while cycling voyages and a ship with a manifest will spawn close by.

skeleton camps can appear on gold hoarder maps. you can keep putting down the shorter voyages to get small islands. and dive to a camp without loot in the camp changing.

Personally love using the ashen skull to do oos single captains they tend to spawn on two little islands next to each other so you can grind them out fairly quick to get to grade 5 plus the random skellies ya find along the way. Then just grind out ashen skulls and orbs after grade 5.

Thanks Phuzzy. Just make sure you dont vote down another voyage when diving to Plunder OP. Skellies wouldnt spawn at the lookout point camp so the vault with the orb wouldnt open. Thinking it was a bug I sailed to the next camp pointlessly, just vote down the voyage instead

Requires doing it while being the crew pledged to the burning blade. You also have to sell it at reapers. If you've done all that it does mention it has to be "stolen" which either means the orbs themselves have been stolen like in a story sense, or perhaps it means you have to take them from other players, I'm not quite clear on the interpretation. If you've sold one as the crew of the burning blade, at reapers, then the commendation must require you to take an orb from someone else.

U can either get lucky by sinking someone with an orb or by convincing someone else on the server to get one for you (give them treasure or smthn). But you have to sell it to reapers while being part of the burning blade crew

I hope this gets pinned or something, but the Merchant Voyage version of the Skeleton Camps give you way more reputation than the orb, and are worth almost as much. If you want the orb commendation though, go for orb.
