Our garden is about one month behind due to cold June nights. Not a good growing season for us, but tomatoes are about ready. A garden never grows the same from year to year. We will take what we can get. Learning experience every year.

I Subscribed to the MIGARDENER a long time ago & have been watching Luke for years, but i gotta say, this is the first time I chuckled out loud while watching him, as he says, "So cute, BOP, BOP, BOP". Love your content & your sense of humor! Oh, and I just ordered a bunch more seed packets to add to my seed case collection!! -> I'm gardening YEAR AROUND since I've learned to not only plant a Spring garden, but also plant a Fall garden and now gardening with Hydroponics throughout the winter! All learned from MiGardener!! Thanks so much Luke!!

Learned a ton, Luke. Really liked your thoughts on pruning especially the idea of pruning to a single vine. I had wondered why some flowers didn't get cucumbers. Who knew I would be getting a lesson on the birds and the bees! 🐝

I have been harvesting cucumbers for a few weeks now. I learned to prune the plants like you are doing. I am feeding my house and my neighbors with the abundance of them this year. I strung a section of coated fencing across t-posts and let them ramble. Best year ever for them. Thanks for your info Luke.

I wish I was your neighbor. I had 1 or 2 cucumbers and 1 zucchini. Pathetic! Out of 15 tomato plants I had enough for 2 mediumish bowls of salsa. Nothing did well so far. The potato plants did not develop properly, will see what the sweet potatoes are going to be doing. Onions didn't grow their leaves even..... so bad. I had a few peppers 3 small Japanese eggplant from 3 plants. I spent a lot of money on raise beds and soil and was a bust so far.🥴

@camicri4263, I put in some new beds this year and found the new soil wasn’t very fertile. I think it included too much wood chip that wasn’t broken down enough, locking up the nitrogen. I fertilized heavily and had success, but nothing like my old beds. Maybe some extra fertilizer will help your beds too. Best of luck!

I needed this info, Luke! Thanks! I have only three cucumber plants (I'm north of Toronto) planted in the ground (I tried in containers last year and only harvested TWO cukes, LOL) and the season has been very wet. I do need to do some pruning! They have been producing well, so far! Two or three nice sized fruits every other day! I have enjoyed MANY cucumber sandwiches, and given away quite a few to neighbours. (They appreciate them FAR more than Zucchini! LOL) Last week I made a large batch of sweet cucumber relish which turned out GREAT! I'm well on the way to cooking up a second batch. Thanks so much for your video and advice!

Great info! I’m not so good at pruning enough. So thank you for the motivation! (I’ll prune my cucumbers today) I have definitely got some fungus on my cucumbers, cantaloupes, and zucchinis. I’ve been pruning the others but I find it difficult to keep up. I tend to start my cucumbers later in June in MI (usually my last plant to get in). It’s my goal next year to get them in a little earlier.

I am growing couple of plants in my greenhouse in the UK. Left each with few branches. I have cut the tops off when they reached the roof. However I often leave a foot long branch (a sucker) on each node and then cutting off the rest.On this way I get few cucumbers out of each branch and in the same time don't allow my plants to get too bushy.

Research for varieties that are pest and disease resistant. Also helps to research the life cycle of the pest in your area (your local extension office is a good resource). See if you can get away with planting a little later to avoid the time when cucumber beetles are most prolific in your area. I direct sowed my Patty Pan squash around the Fourth of July rather than the spring and it seemed to help me avoid the squash bugs.
