Great tips! After years of developing games myself and working for larger games, I can say I would definitly start with an easy game. If you are beggining I would reccomend that you instead of making a game, make models for a game, slowly build the models until you can make what you want. DO NOT START any advanced game, I remember making a basic game myself, I used models and it took days to try and make them work and in the end I quit instead! If you are NOT brand new to coding and know a language then I suggest reading the dev documents. Hope this helps people! 😄

I am not a successful or even developer, but I recommend doing an Obby as a first Roblox game. Because the scripts for the checkpoints are concise and you only build some random easy or hard stages, also you can add in some NPC in the game, so it says random stuff like "Oh no! We need to jump over these rocks to escape the cave!" so that's why.

I made a game with free models for my first game when j didnt know anything. I got a warning for copyright after copying a thumbnail from google and i was very sad even though it was literally no gameplay but im currently working on an already published 2d game to make it better. Im focusing on adding more maps/levels but soon i will add other features like spectate and others. I used some free models (some are customized like the shop visuals) and i tried my best to not overuse them since idk how to script really good or even at all,so i use tutorials and a few free models every time i cant find a tutorial on yt or yt gives a model link. I hope the game gets more visits because since the beginning i havent noticed visits go up unless i ask my friends to join me but i noticed a small change in the counter. Im probably just imagining or something because it prob would happen that early (my game has 90 visits out of pure friend gameplay and other people i asked to join from other games) but who knows, maybe it is going to build a playerbase off of sheer friend activity and their friends also playing as a few days wgk as of writing this i played this with 2 friends, then a friend of one of them joined then another friend of the other friend of me and then another of their friends joined until 6 people which is more than half the server size of people were there. Maybe this was the beginning or just the end because after all those people joined. The round system broke. Causing everyone to have to leave and rejoin. Why would i be sad becauwe i get more visits you might ask. Because i told everyone to rejoin but some people just didnt rejoin and some people had to go. It went back to 2 players,one friend and their friend. Anyways long story short ive been wkrking hard to make more maps for my game everyday and i really hope soon i will reach 100 visits. As soon as this happens, im updating with the 10th map (or ill just release any map). The game is really struggling to survive but what is there to survive anyways because not many people played it if not any others. Also if you read this whole thing put the word apple at the end of your reply and ill like it.

my first game was obby but i had problems and it wasn't published i tryed to make another that is squid game and it reached over 200 and something visits then i made stud jump obby it reached over 70 visits and many little games now i'm doing on really perfect obby game as i want to get visits.. P.S. don't publish ur game if u didn't make it as u wanted and u published it cuz u want visits (:

The thing is I dont like building simulator games because alot of people hate it now. i know pet simulator x has ALOT of players. and its a simulator game but the thing is the simulator is really nice. thats why alot of people playing and i cant build a game like simulators

I totally understand how you feel, it can be discouraging when you see a lot of people getting tired of a certain genre of games, especially when it's a genre you're interested in. But remember, popularity of a certain type of game may be popular at the moment, but it doesn't mean it will always be. While Pet Simulator X is a popular game, that doesn't mean you can't make a different type of simulator that people will enjoy. The key is to find something that you're passionate about and put your own spin on it, try experimenting with different game ideas and see what resonates with you. Remember, the key to success in game development is to be creative and have fun. So, don't be discouraged, keep experimenting and exploring different game ideas and you'll find something that you enjoy creating and that people will enjoy playing. Good luck!

So roleplay which requires to make a map with simple code to give the player items or to make your own animation is pretty hard but making a simple good old simulator with eggs that you need to check values and add gems because im guessing you will add another currency other then points or whatever plus not to mention the amount of stress pet simulator x is going through to fix duplicating the pets which now that i mention, you need to add pets and stats and models and i wont continue writing this because im waisting my time but i think i proved my point pretty good.

Roleplay games tend to have a large amount of building and different systems to make them of quality Yes, you can make a more simple one, but games like Brookhaven/Livetopia have a lot of work that goes into the small details like all the different tools and car models, etc. The key idea here is to pick a game idea that aligns with your skills and interests, and be prepared to put in the time and effort to learn and troubleshoot any issues that may arise.

I mean for a quality one. There's simple ones you can make But most new devs there's still a lot of systems where they'd be better off making a more simple game for starters. Roleplay games can be whatever you want them to be which leaves them very open ended to have a lot of development process behind it, and expansion of the scope of project. For another game, you have a better idea of what you're going for when you start and less you have to end up making.
