Yes, the darker one's darker and the lighter one a little brighter, but they're both lovely!

I agree with you and the other comments that the darker one has a darker tone. It’s lovely, anyway!

Fascinating outcome. Didn’t expect such a difference in the same wood type. Gives more reasons to have two of everything. The Ukes are lovely, clearly built by a skilled luthier. Have a great week

Both are beautiful Ukes…very very similar in sound but the lighter shade #247 appeals to me more .. 😁🦋 lovely video Matt

Both sounded lovely. I had my phone in my pocket with headphones so I couldn't see while listening. I recommend going to the shop if you can as, for me, the feel (and smell!) of the Uke is also something. Plus there are lots of other nice ones to try and Matt will have them all tuned up ready to compare.

I usually find it hard to distinguish between instruments/strings by sound alone. I’m not using hi-fi or earphones but on the tv Bose sound bar. This time I did notice a difference and preferred the #245.

I remember a comparison, about a year ago, between two Baton Rouge UR71T: One with a dark 'nomal' top and one with a lighter sapwood top. There seem to be many similarities. Although the differences in sound are subtle, does this proof that lighter couloured (same) wood sounds brighter?

I note the other comments regarding these two but would say rather that #245 is warmer and a little richer rather than darker. More what you might expect from a Tenor body and scale length. #247 on the other hand gives a bit more of a ring from the higher tuned strings, that sparkle you get with a Soprano as well. There's not a lot of difference, it's more like comparing Worth Browns and Worth Clears. that! 🤔🙂

I feel the lighter coloured ukulele has a slightly softer & sweeter sound which appealed to me more than the darker instrument. 👍🏻

It amazes me how basically the same instrument can sound so different considering they are identical spec wise and craftsmanship wise. I’d be curious if you as dealer find that this is a common occurrence across the board.
@WorldofUkes20 күн бұрын
@Oliv3Cruz Not at all. Sometimes I am asked to 'choose the best one' and really struggle to do so. Yes not identical but the differences not usually that great, and any difference not to an extent where I could choose a better one.

Two from the same board won't sound the same.

@WorldofUkes my comment didn't imply you did. It was a comment to other's that may mistakenly may believe that's the case.

@@calvinbaber1577 no problem, just wanted to add it as often people read the comments and don't watch the video!
