Do current artists have a future in a world that is becoming more and more automated?
This seems to be the big question that more and more artists are asking these days, at least those of us who are more aware of the latest advances in technology.
Art and technology have gone hand in hand in recent years, in reality, technology has gone hand in hand with everything for decades, if not in the use of any product, then at least in its design, manufacture, billing, distribution or any other part of the process of creating anything we use.
Art is no stranger to advances and not all novelties are to the liking of the artists themselves, but whether we like it or not, advances continue day after day in an unstoppable way.
It is becoming more and more common to find applications that automatically do what it took an artist days or weeks to achieve just a few years ago.
Facilitating the work of artists has not only achieved positive things such as increased productivity and connectivity that have made living from art much easier than when we had to go with the folder under our arm and we had to limit ourselves to a few places where we could place some work, always close to our place of residence, of course. Today we can work without too many problems with any country in the world, which dramatically increases our opportunities.
But this has also brought intrusion and bad artists who can achieve incredible results even with a great lack of skill.
But the latest threat will be robots and autonomous software. Robots that are no longer limited to printing but make works with real paint. You can see the brushstrokes and they have learned through algorithms to make their strokes more random, which makes them very difficult to distinguish from those of a human. Obviously quality artists can still make a human work more exciting, but... For how long? Will artificial intelligence be able to reach levels of complexity so high that we end up not being able to distinguish between human and robotic works?
Don't forget to comment.
