The increased tuition fee is the same in every country. In New Zealand for example, the tuition for foreign students was like almost a million pesos for a SINGLE semester in a small college for a very basic course. But for citizens, it's only half of that on average because the government subsidizes their tuition. It's the same in the Philippines. Especially for state universities like UP where tuition is almost free, while foreign students have to pay like I think 10k to 30k.

Hi I live here in the UK it’s the same, international student pays more than home student! I think it’s also same for Filipinos studying in Korea? There is always advantage for being citizen in a country….in reality La Salle is one of the most expensive school in the Phil but basically much cheaper done studying in the UK or US.

Here in the states, out of state students pay more & foreign students pay even more too. I honestly think that’s fair. Tuition also increase every year, even during the pandemic when classes were online. University cost in the US is so high it’s disgusting. It feels like scam.

Huhuhu. As an Accountancy grad, cant live without calcu. And what is more unfortunate to us, I studied using a Sci-Cal but then graduated with Sci-Cal no longer allowed for Accountancy Board Exam because of the issue from Civil Eng that programmed a Sci-Cal and used it for CELE. Huhuhu yung Calcu namin, pang-tindahan na lang. Us using Calcu has something to do with the VOLUME of topics and large amount of numbers, PV Factors, etc.

Many Filipinos never bother to take the exam in La Salle or Ateneo because we are certain we won't be able to afford the tuition anyway . UST is relatively cheaper but still expensive. So for poorer people who want to be in the top 4 institutions, UP is really the only choice. That's do or die.

School fees for local students are lower than those for international students, applying to all countries not just the Philippines. We lived in Singapore (even we were holding permanent residency, my daughter's school fee was much higher than the Singaporeans while here in Nz, is better. If you are a resident - you will be charged with domestic rate).

Foreigners pay more for school because of job issues (other than greed, of course). If your country has too many foreigners going to your local schools and then the foreigners return home for a job. That country basically lost a class seat for a local student that could have been a local worker. But if that foreigner studied locally and got a local job, then the country "gave away" a local job to a foreigner. The higher tuition cost for foreigners is to dissuade poor foreigners from getting "cheap" schooling at the local country. Lots of countries have regulations against hiring a foreigner when a local person could do the job. Another reason is because foreigners do not pay taxes to the local government. The local government usually collects taxes to provide funds for a local school. So basically, the locals pays as much as foreigners if the taxes local students (and parents) paid to the government are included into the calculation. So, in short, locals paid taxes to fund the schools, but foreigners didn't. And governments are trying to control how many foreigners can replace the local workers without losing a local workforce. The tuition is even worse in the US for foreign students. Trust me unironically, bros.

LS Trivia: The Irish-American Christian Brothers of pre-war De La Salle College, Taft developed a very deep personal bond with all their students and it's families. Being a Lasallite before was a family and neighborhood tradition. Everyone in your family members and neighbors were all Lasallites. Lasallian families go several generations deep, starting from your grandfather down to your own son and nephews. Lasallian and Atenean families had generational animosity against each other. It all gets complicated and crazy when family members oppose each other stemming from their traditional school feud. Those were the old fun days, when life was a lot simpler and more enjoyable.

It is nice to know that Koreans love studying in the Philippines. It is also nice studying here in Korea. Haha

Korean Education System is really hard based on my students. I feel bad for them because they study from morning until late at night. From Elementary to Highschool they go to the academy after school. They don't even want to get 1 wrong from their test. It should be perfect. Also with the calculator. I literally explained what is a calculator to my students because they didn't use it ever. hahaha

All i've read about Korean school life was from elementary to high school, the kids study hard just for the goal of getting to the university you wish to go, but when they succeed in getting there, college life is a lot more relaxed than elementary and high school. It is the opposite in the Philippines wher you are allowed to enjoy your youth (elementary and high school) and then you have to study hard in college where you aim to learn your major for your intended career.
