Best video of the month was you chasing ducks and goats. Lol Your brother has a nice place . The house sets by the water It’s nice of him to name his street after someone who was good to him. I love your videos when you are cutting wood and messing with the animals. I believe that’s a good ideal about the truck bed. Your truck, your dogs.

Your brother makes me smile. He reminds me of my father. The old hermit that if you take the time to listen is a treasure trove of knowledge and stories. Who might grump but would give you the shirt off his back. The house was just like his place, pieced together. Even naming things after people who gave him things... lol

We've had our spray in bed liner for 11 years...Ours is over the rails, it hasn't faded, cracked, nothing. It looks as good as the day we put it in. We did the rocker panels as well. Best thing we could have ever done with our truck. We throw lumber in it, tree branches, bags of sand, whatever. Ours is 1/4 inch or thicker. Our truck is well over 20 years old (1998) and looks almost new. You have to get a good quality one. The person that did ours professionally taught people how to do this, he needed a truck that wasn't all beat up; we just paid for the cost of the materials. It was $300. Best investment ever.

Used to go out in the summer and cut log rounds. Stacked them in the wood shed all summer, until it was full, and even a bit more. Come time to get some down to the house, we'd split wood on a cool day. Spend a day or so splitting and stacking wood at the house. Always stacked the wood on the outside of the back porch, to keep it away from the house, in case of termites or wood ants. I can see who DJ gets her good looks from!

Your tress and land so all the wood chips are yours , I went through this with our town highway department. They came in on my land and cut trees down , I asked them what they were doing and they told me cutting trees that may fall over . I ask were the wood is going they said to our houses to burn in wood stoves , I said I don’t think so my land your on and my trees ,my wood and if you take it you will be charged with stealing. They checked in to it and as I said my wood and they were also told that they have to ask before they cut any wood , they only go 20’ from center of road and that puts them on edge of ditch

When I bought my truck new I stopped by the local Line-X dealer to see about getting the spray liner added. I wanted to do it before a camping trip that I had coming up. The guy said go ahead and take it on the trip and bring it back after the trip. I told him it's gonna get all scratched up before I brought it back. He said when we get done prepping it it's gonna look a lot worse than that before they spray in the liner. He you told me that they used 80 grit sandpaper to sand down the entire bed so that the liner would stick. I was worried about it not sticking to the paint. The problem is it won't stick to the new paint that's why they sand it down to prep it.

I lost my father today (Dec 12.) Watching you and Huston over the past few years has always reminded me of the times I spent with him, hunting, fishing, growing food, working with tools, and even chopping wood (the old fashion way.) He loved the outdoors and the simple country life. Over the span of his life, he was a farmer, welder, painter, roofer, fireman, and of course father, brother, uncle, cousin, grandfather, friend and dog lover. I will continue where he left off teaching his grand kids (my niece and nephew) the lessons he taught me and hopefully they will pass it along to their kids. Thank you, Daniel for sharing your life and family with us and may God continue to bless you all.

Daniel, it looks like you have a lot of logs to cut and split. It sure is a challenging job. I have a question for you, "Do you have to put up with Termites out in your area of the country?" My younger brother and I use to go out and gather our firewood together. He would cut, and I would pitch it to the truck. Daniel, when you video your brother and the old homestead I have even more respect for you than before. Evidently country folks in times past counted their worth by the number of outhouses/sheds on their property. I know my parents and grandparents did. Before my mother passed (several years after Daddy passed), she deeded land to those she wanted (my brother had passed before either of my parents), so she asked me if I wanted my homestead or my grandparents - I chose my grandparents. I demolished the outbuildings and somewhat renovated the house, but it still exists the same on the outside, including two porches that had been converted to rooms. Right now it’s empty, but I use it for relatives who need somewhere to live, rent free. Memories are all I have left, so, even if I sell the land, the house will be mine until I die. So, we all have relatives who march to the tune of a different drummer; however, they are ours and our worth is reflected by how we treat them. You could have very easily just not filmed this video - but, you didn’t! BTW, I think your brother is interesting. One of my dad’s friends gave money to build two buildings, one on the campus of two different local universities. Both buildings were named for him. Why wouldn’t your brother name the building/street for the gentleman that gave him the lumber to build his building? It’s all relative!

@armsFamily: FWIW: we used to stack firewood on the front porch that had nice clap board siding. We used to put a thin sheet of plywood, 1/4 inch or 3/8 inch between the siding and firewood to keep from scuffing up the siding.
