I'm learning and have watched hundreds of videos from hundreds of different youtube channels........ yours is one of my favorites. You explain what needs to be done, then do it and show that it worked. No bullshit, no drama, no trying to impress with fancy talk and no annoying music lol ......... just straight to the point repairs and good explanation. Great job !

Today I also learned that I can safely test an iPhone is charging without having to put all the parts back together. Sometimes it's the small questions like this that I have the trouble finding the answers to. Thanks again Senpai Sorin!

I like your honesty on this, it gives many insights based on real experience and real repairs rather than the sort of hearsay you read on forums and the like. Many repairers like to hide behind 'trade secrets' as they think it protects their business interests or knowledge. For a hobby repairer who doesn't do this day-in, day-out and may do something similar once in a lifetime, it not only shows what it could be but also how. Better yet it can help keep stuff out of landfill because it is 'broken' or deemed to be 'beyond repair'. Nice one :)

hi Sorin, i'm not questioning your work because it was obviously fixed, but i'm curious about the less amount of solder ball at bottom-right pad (16:09), isn't that won't be enough to create a proper joint with the pad of the ic?

Rather than cleaning the pads off You leave what's left of the balls after removing the faulty IC , take a fresh IC and wipe the balls off it instead. then solder it on. Most technicians would have just cleaned the pads on the motherboard and soldered on the new IC with it's good balls as is. Sure your way worked, but I'm not sure that I understand why it is supposed to be better than the normal way.
@electronicsrepairschool

He wanted to show that it could be done without re-balling. This is same as taken a working chip from another spare board and solder it on the problem board. I.e the chip taken from a spare board wouldn't have any balls on it
