Great video. I don't live in Ghana at this time but I understand the need to protect your home and your family no matter where you live. In the states some homes have bars on the doors and windows and some have alarm systems. I prefer alarm systems that will sound an alarm and alert the police if there is a break in. They both will deter crime. The more I watch your videos I think when I come to Ghana I would prefer to live in a gated community where burlar proofing and electric fences are not needed. I would feel trapped behind walls and bars on a small plot

I’m the same I’d prefer to not but opportunist are everywhere it’s just something you have to do. We will have them in our build when we’re at the stage

I'm currently staying at a gated community in Accra. I hate burglar bars so, if I decide to live in Ghana permanently, I would prefer a gated community.

Think about with lower windows open i would prefer to have BP-ing to create a layer of protection in the event I would want to leave my windows open on a hot night
@l.e.sparklesfkaelliesparkl5875 Жыл бұрын
Prob more of a deterrent. They used to breach the front doors all the time but perhaps with these new security doors BP + Security door shd suffice. One more layer of personal protection prob needed if both are breached n gh police can't be reached in time.

Sir, my suggestion is that you have to paint them to fit the color of your building, I don’t know if this is it or you’re gonna change the color. Thank you.

I like the design on your burglar bars, Sam. We are in the “hell no” bracket. I believe security is not supposed to be one way so assuming having burglar proof bars eliminates theft is not 100% true. I always say that if you give a thief all the time in the world, they will breach any burglar bar you install - case in point bank vaults get breached every so often so burglar bars aren’t the end all be all. For our project, we will add layers that will hopefully prevent anyone getting to the window more so try to enter.
@GhanaBound Жыл бұрын
Totally agree, we will also be adding layers of security, if someone is determined to get in they will .

@@GhanaBound, exactly. The goal of these measures is to delay not prevent entry.

Burglar proof is not a new concept used in Ghana to deter intruders. It has become more common though and the placement has changed. It used to be installed outside the windows of residential properties, but now it is installed inside and into the wall to make it difficult to breach it. Unfortunately crime is more these days than back in the days. I don’t know why some people think burglar proofs are only used in Ghana/developing countries. You can find them in large cosmopolitan cities in the west as well as in small mountain villages in the west. I like the emergency escape inclusion, that is a smart concept. Good luck having Ghana police respond quickly when your alarm goes off. Even front walls used to be shorter so your beautiful house can be seen from the street but now front walls are taller hiding all the beautiful architecture and landscaping on the compound. Yes better safe than sorry. How I wish we didn’t need any level of security but sadly it’s a different world everywhere. For many burglar proofing becomes a more affordable and difficult choice.

If the security bars are metal, in the event of fire, they would be too hot to touch however, it is nice to have the option to remove them from the inside. You never know...

It's a shame that you can't build your own house and live peacefully without the worries of burglars. Those guys will attack you if you don't have them in place. I'm not a fun of it but I'm compelled to, considering my place is very remote.

Hi, came across your video. May i ask where you got your interlocking blocks from and the cost. The reason i ask is because i am currently building but producing my own blocks and from what i can tell yours doesnt seem to be made very well. (No disrepect intended) im just curious.

Is burglar proof windows common in countries such as Nigeria, Jamaica and certain states in America? I know ww don't use them in the UK but I wonder if that's because our police service is better than Ghana 🤷🏾♂️
