Thru experience you need longer stronger pegs. If pegs cannot used, fill large ziplock bag with water or stones. Then put it in your canvas grocery bag with handles. Zip tie into grommet. Not perfect but allows you to use space. For awning and roof bag you might need some seam sealer if you find small leaks. When you leave the car in an area where theft is prevalent put bag in car. I actually bicycle chain it to the door handle to prevent quick grab. I also padlock the two zip ends together. Consider your roof bag the most vulnerable and only put things that can be replaced. Good luck on your new adventure!

I've camped in a Peugeot Partner in freezing temperatures. because they are small they are easy to heat up with body heat like a tent. Back to Eastern Europe for sunshine and happy friendly people, and much lower costs. All the very best in your micro camper, however, the level of compromise seems like a mountain to be in it full-time, especially with the UK constant rain. They are designed as weekend vans, as he pitched on Dragons Den. You should have done a 'Duke of Wellington'...A4 paper, line down the centre, absolute honesty required. On one side, Pro's and Cons of Morgan, and on another sheet, pro's and cons of Berlingo, and do over a few days...as it's amazing how it produces clarity...especially with important decisions...All the very best. :)

I love this, as it proves the more we let go off, and give up the attachment to items, the more we can discover and explore. Every item we own hold space in our minds, it really does hold space and creates us to not to worry more , so when you can be living in a car, with just the basic items, really basic items is when your mind has freedom to explore, expand and create. It's going to be amazing and challenging too, which is what adventure and freedom are all about. no matter what others say thats often their own fears being projected. Having just bought a motorhome and starting my own journey, I kind of can see the huge benefit of fitting under barriers and blending in a tad more in this county at least. Enjoy

Those jet boils cookers are great. I used both cookers you have. And I still use them in the van. That was until I got a power unit and I now use an electric twin hob. Good thing is they get to temperature and then turn off to save power. If you get one, make sure it has a thermostat. And it's good if the weather is rubbish for cooking outside. Also. After you're done cooking, it stays hot and warms the van up a bit.

My husband suggested as a short term solution for food with your new stove is the military style food packs which you heat up using boiling water. Think of boil in the bag rice as a similar option to just have in the car or in the roof bag as back up especially at times when not near shops. Also with the temporary loo, get yourself a decent poncho either military grade or like cyclists wear. The idea is you keep your arms inside, do your business but have utter privacy and keep dry should it be raining as you can put the hood up. Cheap to buy and the military ones can double up as extra tarp should it be required.

A small roofbox mounted on the back door is another option. That roof tidy may work better vertically behind the front seats or something like it that is made to be vertical. There are car seatback organisers that would be useful. Edit: the idea is to make things as easy and comfortable and automatic as possible avoiding as best as you can the stresses of looking for things or moving things to do things and long setup times. it's better to have everything for a particular activity in one place altogether, in boxes or stations so there's less messing around. Those seatback organisers, you can get them like aeroplane tables where you could possibly convert one into or build from scratch a folding sink/ bathroom cabinet with mirror and place for toiletries. Also nice to have lots of water storage including waste water, can be put in the rear seat footwells, with a battery powered tap/pump up to the folding sink and drain to waste tank.

Good luck guys. I 'm car camping on beautiful Vancouver Island, Canada. Did the cargo net but for me, stow away and keeping space as uncluttered as possible is key. However, there is just so much I cannot get rid of, my chihuahua comes to mind haha. Seriously though, you'll see what you need as you go.

I wish them nothing but the best. Its going to be tough going living at such close guarters. I hope Jeannie is ok 😢 x

Not sure what is allowed in the UK to build , but here in the US I use a small trailer with a roof top box behind my motocycle . So with the car this would work out great as you could use a tad bit bigger box on the trailer . As you just said the height would a problem , also the box on a trailer would not hurt your fuel mileage.

Great video. You’ve still got considerably more possessions than Gandhi had and he seemed to do ok.

Exactly! Ghandi had nothing and washed with a cup full of water...🙏

Hello, To be frank with you, I wonder you didn't make a big mistake in separating from Morgane? “Car Camping” is a good alternative for going away for a weekend or several days... but for year-round vanlife? I think you'll sell it quickly, you won't even spend a winter in this micro van... If I were in your place, I would have taken more like a Renault Traffic / VW Caravelle, it also goes everywhere but with a lot more space. Have you never been tempted by a small sailboat? it can be a very good alternative against the expense of fuel while taking advantage of a lot of space? Enjoy the trip to the south of France and Italy but be careful or you will spend the night.

Thank you sooo much for the minimalist approach advice…you inspired me to have a serious clear out and although still lots to go I feel so much lighter and more positive about living in my micro camper with two cats and two mobility scooters which obviously are all keepers…I love you two..your videos are so entertaining informative inspirational and realistic.

@@ThoseHappyDays thanks ☺️ if you’re ever in Bath and need a bath (sorry it’s either a kiddy paddling pool or shower …all hot water) but you’re welcome…give me a way of privately giving you my number if you’d like to …

Hi Liam & Janine you guys are incredibly brave always pushing yourselves to the limit for less baggage & less stuff. I wonder if you will ever try & live with just the clothes & stuff you can physically carry on you backs? That would be an adventure for you guy that takes arround the world….. Good luck & when I get my stuff sorted out, you’re always welcome to couch surfing at mine…

I like the tinted windows. You can also quick cook dehydrated food like potatoes and another quick cook food is couscous. I think the stones on the ground might damage the floor of the awning. I would have a mat or tarp or something to protect it from the stones and pressure when someone stands on the floor.

Looks as though you need to check out some ultralight camping equipment websites. When I was in England this summer, I noticed that the ultralight camping gear hasn’t taken off like it has in the US. Instead of the jet boil a small burner would save you some space and you could put pots on it too.

One thing to consider, a cargo net on the ceiling. Great way to get a little more storage/place to stow stuff when your sleeping. Hook to the pull down handles over each door

Hi Love what you post. I bought an old Fiat Doblo with a high roof. That high roof does make it feel more spacious. It is an old one with 128,000 on clock but I have been working on it over winter and i have only spent 1night in it so far on the car park of a pub that is closed for renovation on the Kirkstone Pass. Took out the rear seats to make more storage and all being well me and my miss's will be taking it out in the next few weeks. But not sure I could live in one as a couple. Takes a special sort of relationship. If you were going to spend any length of time living in a car/van then high roof Doblos are deffo worth a look. Best wishes Frank & Al
