Last I heard what's happening is often a language difference. Many languages just don't have as many words for colors as English does. If I remember correctly(And according to Google Translate), there isn't a word for the color Orange in Japanese. They either just use the English word, or they call orange things red. Orange is actually a relatively new colour! The first known usage was in 1502, in reference to the fruit (so yes, the fruit came first); before then, orange things were typically described as red (which is why people with orange hair are called redheads) or brown. I'm not sure when "orange" migrated to Japan, but it's worth pointing out that their word for it (オレンジ, romanized as "orenji") is extremely similar to the English word, indicating they got it from our language. This is all a long, roundabout way to say that "Orange" is a Western concept that probably isn't as much of A Thing in Eastern cultures, which is why it isn't an official Pokedex colour.

having recently rewatched mikeys colours video it hurt to watch him walk into the combusken trap he was already previously enraged by. I do suspect that the reason for combusken is they have a strong bias on the startes to assign them red green blue for their typings, because several other starters were quite iffy if i recall
