when he said what we need to boycott are "government products and things related to government institutions" ... does he even know that we have public schools and state universities that are subsidized and funded by the government? these mostly cater to those who cannot afford private schools/colleges/universities, and other more expensive learning centers.. and are you even aware of "Kadiwa Stores" that offer agricultural products and goods which are cheaper by a significant amount compared to your local grocery or market? because they get the products straight from our poor farmers, no money hogging middlemen traders involved. these "government products and things related to government institutions" that you say we need to boycott are the same products and services that poor Filipinos depend on to help them get by

Well, just want to know how long have he been here in the Philippines to qualify as someone who can say comments like that like as if he knows the Filipinos and the country very well, considering he came from Wyoming which I think is like a province in the US. Since he said he was just forced to come and study here by his parents, he can always ask them if he can go back to Wyoming USA. Maybe he can try living first in New York or California so he'll know how it is to live in the city. Oh by the way, he looks like a Filipino, maybe one or both of his parents are Filipinos?

I am sure his parents' background is Filipino coz he looks Filipino to me. I can say that he is used to a Western lifestyle that he cannot still adjust to a change in "environment" and "system". The interview did not ask him on how long he is already staying in the Philippines; or I did just miss it. Well, everything he said were his own opinion; but if he wants to go out of his comfort zone; he must learn how to have an open mind. His interview started by stating that it's not his choice to be in the Philippines, but that decision was his parents'. Pretty soon, he will be independent and want to travel the world...and he will realize that he will be out of his usual US lifestyle and system that he grew up from. He should have an open mind, embrace and adapt to that country's way of life; and see the positive and beauty the place it can offer...and not just complain because he, himself cannot do anything about these "complaints". Then he can enjoy and appreciate his stay there even it is a short visit or a long stay.

@TravelingTalongs I think I agree with the idea of enforcing food safety standards for all street food vendors and addressing traffic concerns as part of her opinion. However, I don't agree with boycotting the government. This could lead to him being warned by the government or, worse, deported back to the U.S. Since it involves opposing the government, it's a bad idea for him as an American student. It wouldn't be good for him to stay here in the Philippines if he gets involved in such actions.

@@bolagg6676 Let's put it this way, Bolagg, If im in India and I tell to their faces that it smells stinky, would that be proper? One, do you think Indians aren't aware of that stereotype? telling them would just insult or belittle and make them self-conscious. Im not that evil to make others feel bad for their imperfections. Two, if they want to change or resolve it, its up to them. Out of respect, Ill let them be. Their body, their rules. None of my business. Three, if the smell bothers me, I have the option to leave the country. It is NOT their obligation to change for me. I am just a visitor and I know where I stand. Now tell that gentleman to accept it as it is. And dont ask us if he' points are valid. WE KNOW OUR COUNTRY BETTER. Focus on what he can control --whether to stay or not.
