I have a solution. Give Aaron an above ground pool 4 ft deep x 10 ft wide, a raft and he can float in his pool. Her and the kids can go to Grandma's and make memories. I agree, no need for a pool.

I rarely comment, but I have to agree with the person who said people should mind their own business. The entire Garden Answer family seems like the most amazing, loving, and gracious family. Please remember that this is their life they are choosing to share with us. They are not inviting you to comment on how they live their life, how they raise their children, how they worship, their political views, or any other aspect of their lives that are none of our business. Let’s try not to pass judgement on the lives of others but be grateful we have the privilege of getting a glimpse into such a wholesome family who love each other and always try to do the right things.

I agree that complaining or criticizing is out of place just because you don't agree with something you see. However, please remember that posting on any platform or social media is absolutely making space for public comment. There is always the button to remove comments should one choose this option. But what they were referring to wasn't a comment. It was a call from a viewer to the Oregon food bank and they (food bank) were the ones following up on the call. But I do agree with you, that it was a ludicrous complaint.

I totally agree with Laura. Don't have a pool. Benjamin and Samantha will have such great memories of visiting their grandparents and swimming in their pool. Going over there for a swim will always be an occasion. If they have their own pool the novelty will soon wear off.

Blessed? More like reward from hard work. Who is not blessed? How do you get blessed? You put words together that mean nothing. Also she makes a living making KZbin videos for public consumption. This channel is all about explaining everything and you are telling her she doesn't have to? That would make this channel pointless and then no more money. Money makes this all happen not imagining blessings from imaginary gods.

Laura, I am supporting you on the pool!!! Our neighbors have had a pool since their daughters were young. Now they have grandkids who came to swim & for Summer parties. Her one daughter decided to put a pool in at her own house. My neighbor told me how sad she was because they would not come nearly as much as they did. She would never say that to her daughter, but you know, she was right. They very rarely use their pool now. I know it makes her Grandma heart sad. Stand your ground 😂😂😂😂😂

I think when the kids are on the play set and court when it’s hot they might like to just jump in the pool.Laura’s parents are working, so they are not visiting with them while they are in their pool during the week. With the plus 100 degrees weather it would be nice to have a pool. Also maybe Aaron may not feel comfortable going to his in-laws for a swim at any given time. If they are creating a fun zone for family friends and themselves why not include a pool. Might as well do it while they are doing all this infrastructure.

Here is a recipe I wrote for you many years ago with a recipe for the Fried Green tomatoes & the Remoulade sauce! Southern Living Fried Green Tomatoes 3 medium sized green tomatoes - cut into 1/3 in slices & placed into paper towels to help absorb excess water 1 large egg, lightly beaten 1/2 cup buttermilk 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, divided 1/2 cup cornmeal 1 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon pepper Vegetable oil Salt to taste 1. Combine egg and buttermilk; set aside. 2. Combine 1/4 cup all-purpose flour, cornmeal, 1 teaspoon salt, and pepper in a shallow bowl or pan. 3. Dredge tomato slices in remaining 1/4 cup flour; dip in egg mixture, and dredge in cornmeal mixture. 4. Pour oil to a depth of 1/4 to 1/2 inch in a large cast-iron skillet; heat to 375°. Drop tomatoes, in batches, into hot oil, and cook 2 minutes on each side or until golden. Drain on paper towels or a rack. Sprinkle hot tomatoes with salt. 5. Serve hot! Good with ranch type dressings, remoulade sauce (recipe below for this). Homemade Remoulade Prep time: 5 mins Cook time: 5 mins Total time: 10 mins Serves: 1½ cups Ingredients • 1 cup of mayonnaise • 2 tbsp creole mustard (can use Dijon) • ½ lemon, juiced • 2 cloves garlic, minced • 1 tbsp capers, finely chopped (optional) • 1 tbsp Sriracha hot sauce, or your favorite hot sauce • 1 tsp paprika • 1 pinch of salt • 1 pinch of cracked black pepper • 1 dash of cayenne pepper • 1 tbsp chives, minced • ½ tsp Worchestershire sauce Instructions 1. Add everything to a mixing bowl, & do just that. Mix, and mix well until everything is incorporated, and smooth. 2. Transfer the mixture to a sealable container, and store in the refrigerator. 3. This should store well for up to 2 weeks.

You do so much good in the community that you don’t publish and we all have had our bumps and bruises of childhood mishaps, inevitable. ❤️❤️ Also, what Laura said about having a pool would possibly take away from the amount of time spent with Nana and Papa at their pool. when my girls were young we lived in a place where we could not have a kiddie pool, we lived near my parents and set up a pool their for them….we took them just about every day at that pool for all day fun and they still talk about all the great memories today 😊

Exactly! The pool makes going to the grandparents house even more special. You would likely spend less time at your parents house if you had a pool of your own. Besides, you already have enough to take care of and plan to have horses! Maybe your new pond design could accommodate what Aaron really wants for himself from the water even if it doesn’t accommodate the whole family. A place he could take a quick dip to cool off whenever he wants.

The two of you gave me a good chuckle this morning! The love and banter between the you both is so sweet. And it is easy to get hit by accident with a baseball bat. My son (at 16) came up behind another teenage boy, just like Samantha did Benjamin, and wack! These "intellectual pillars" were hitting a crab soccer ball with a steel bat. I mean what could go wrong! He was fine in the end. Things happen, especially with kids. I was so glad to hear how careful you are with the power tools. Same son managed to cut either side of his nose with a pair of snips. Minor cuts, but who puts their nose between the blades! He was my accident prone daredevil impulsive child, and my most fun, open and engaging. There's always a trade off and a head of gray hair. The viewer calling the Oregon food bank, jeeze louise! I imagine you will have tons of stories before you are done with this channel. People never fail to surprise me. Bless your hearts!

OMG can you imagine 😂😂 I wonder if she thought 💭 “Oh I don’t need to plant 🌱 a garden this year because I can get veggies from Laura’s at the food bank”. 🤦‍♀️. Maybe they should 😊have responded “Oh yes, that was last week, you missed it 😂”. Bahaha. On another note thanks Laura and Aaron for sharing your fun family get away with us. I just loved watching the kids playing in the water. Had to rewatch it just to hear Samantha’s giggles ❤️

I’m so glad you said that about the kids and saftey with all the tools and things you use . I have six kids and when you least expect it they will get curious ! So way better to be overly cautious, let them watch safetly and when they old enough let then learn safely. Btw your sour dough loaf was gorgeous! Also you guys were so funny about giving food for Bethany’s pigs. Its so funny the things people feel they have a right to interfere with. I thought it was so nice that you give it to Bethany to feed the pigs and you guys are cleary giving people and its your business if you want to share or not what you give.

Good grief! Laura did an excellent job explaining how kids accidently get hit with plastic bats. The same thing happened with my kids about 25 years ago. My poor daughter was horrified when she swung the bat across her shoulder and her brother was there and she didn't know it. It cut him on his brow bone and sent us to the ER. She was was more devastated than he was! The ER doctor did the best stich-up job I have every seen!!

I watch every video and I am not a gardener. I enjoy the sweet way you deliver content. In a world of ugliness and Food Bank Karens you are a welcome place to land. Your success in living your passion is so wonderful. Your property is so beautiful. The pond is AMAZING. People who snark about you getting discounts or even freebies don't know how You Tube and the value of content creators work. A company giving you something that you mention on your channel is worth a lot of business to them. We get the benefit of finding out about good products we need to solve a problem. The Snarkers and the Karens need to tune into some channel for complainers.

Here's an idea for you: If Samantha's bruised eye is still visable: Have her picture made with a pair of boxing gloves! When our son was two, he fell while carrying a metal cookie tin and got a black eye. I borrowed some boxing gloves and had his picture taken with the gloves in his lap. So cute! He was wearing a red/white/blue tank top & shorts, plus had on high top tennis shoes. The boxing gloves were red. I love that picture of him even to this day. (He's an adult w/ kids of his own). What was an accident, could be made into a treasured memory. Just a thought. Blessings, Janell

I love you guys!! I could listen to you "discuss" all day. I chuckle outloud everytime...Thank You! People can be so rude and insensitive to others! What business is it of the woman who called the Food Bank, what you do with ANYTHING that you choose to give away. Please don't let those kind of people get to you. We love you, you are such a big part of our lives and we all find so much joy in you. I agree that your parents love the family coming over to swim. They get to see the kiddos so much more now while they're little, than they will when they get older and more involved with their own friends. Then, maybe a pool for yourselves would make more sense.

Good morning from SC. After watching the episode on planting the ferns in the 'head' vases, I was at a local boutique that sold contemporary face planters. Bought one not knowing what I would do with it. Home Depot had small hanging baskets of Tradescantia 'Pink Panther' that I purchased and just slide that pot into the face planter. Voila! Instant hair. You and Aaron are so generous in every area, take no heed of people that are referred to as 'Debbie Downers'

I assure you...fried green tomatoes is not "just a southern thing". I live in NY and at my local farm they purposely pick beautiful green tomatoes for me. You can eat them alone, in a sandwich, with or without other ingredients in your sandwich. I use the smaller ones, cut into chunks & fried for salads or make a half sheet of assorted roasted/grilled vegetables. Super simple. S&P, garlic & onion powder and choose your breading - flour, corn meal, bread crumbs - any one or all 3. Fannie Flagg has "the original" recipe in her books.😊

We had a brick wall surrounding our patio at our first house that was a little wonky. I wanted to take it down and waited to long. Our 3 year old (who is now 40) climbed on it and it fell and broke his leg. I know you have had the fireplace inspected but if it is dilapidated, I suggest you take it down sooner than later. You mentioned your concern for the kids when you cut down tree branches or use tools. I kept getting thinking of my wall and the nagging need to not mention my experience. Hope I'm not over stepping. Maybe Bethany can use the bricks or the food bank 😁

Laura, I think it’s great that you want to save the pool time for your parents house. What a great way to spend time together. Thank you for all your inspiration. One say when you give onto Aaron and when your children are older and you want to keep them home and have their friends choose your house to hang out they do make natural looking pools. Ones that look like rec pond but have no eco system, our friends had one put in. It has a gradually slope entry like a beach which travels to the deep end. The liner is dark so it looks like you are entering a natural pond. They have plants and rock landscaped edges to give it a more natural look. However it still has all the filters to keep it clean.

Laura, when my son was 9 he and a buddy and my hubby were playing baseball in our very small backyard. Our son walked in front of the friend as he was swinging the aluminum bat. Put him in the ground. It hit him right on the cheek bone. After 2 phone calls, away to ER we went. They were talking that if the bone had broken and gone into his sinus, it would require surgery! By this this time I was there with the friend and our son, because hubby had to leave for a call. Everyth8ng turned out fine, no surgery required, but son had a bruise that covered the whole side of his face. Took weeks to go away. You’re, right, kids have NO spatial awareness. Sometimes I felt we needed to,wrap him in bubble wrap! Glad Samantha is ok, but the memory will stick, with you and Aaron.

For Mothers Day, my daughters took me to a flower arranging class at a local florist. They soak the flower head in slightly warmer than air temp water for 10 mins to hydrate. Then they cut the stem on the diagonal and immediately did the stem in Alum powder then place the stem in conditioned (like Floralife) water. Replace the water in the vase with conditioned water every 3 days. They lasted over a week!
