Cartoons are not harmful to children, stupid parents who cannot raise children with critical thinking and self reliance tools that use entertainment as a replacement to adult guidance is what is harmful to children. These cartoons are merely a mirror to the past social prejudices of society, prejudices that still exist today. Shielding children is a sure way to ensure we continue to make the same mistakes in the future.

Apparently you haven't watched Disney movies, or you have been completely indoctrinated into their mindset, that you can't see the offences..

I don't think it needs to be changed. I think, the best thing to do is to acknowledge it and tell children or other people what's wrong with it, open and honest discussion and talk about these topics. It has no use to wipe it from our history. I actually think, if it isn't in out history books any more, these mistakes will be repeated. In media as well as in society. Maybe not in the exact same way, but similar. My history teacher once said it very well, history is always repeating. Especially, when we loose sight of it.

Back then, as a child, I didn't see those cartoons as harmful until I grew up

I don't believe that Disney classic cartoons have been produced to intentionally cause prejudice and discrimination. However, a lack of cultural understanding might inadvertently sow the seeds of them, especially if kids are not much exposed to a diverse range of perspectives and experiences. Disney's primary aim is, like any other commercial entity's, to make profits, and not every child is too smart not to be critical of content they see and hear. That's the time when parents, teachers, and caregivers should act a part in guiding their children's media consumption and helping them develop critical thinking skills through open discussions about what they watch, read, and hear. I know it's easier said than done.😐

You're assuming that Walt was doing this for racist reasons. Not okay. Not to mention, some of choices were made after Walt wasn't here. This short is irresponsible and isn't helping anything. That in itself can be harmful to children.

Definitely better to address them, content warnings are a helpful way of acknowledging how problematic something is without banning them. Then when remakes are made we can be more mindful of representing one another in a more respectful light.

No leave it alone it becomes harmful once we tell them the bad side of things instead of letting a cartoon be a cartoon

I think that when people are not concerned about where their next meal is coming from or have no higher power, they focus on the trivial. I have many Indian relatives that LOVE Apu Nahasapeemapetalan. I don't think that even 1% of blacks care about Dumbo or Chinese care about that cat or Arabs care about the Aladdin cartoon.

All of these "harmful" things don't sound harmful at all. They are cartoons and meant to bring happiness. We can't get offended at everything we don't like or just because. The cartoons are fine as is and shouldn't be wokeified

Keep them as they are! It’s history. It’s ok. They did what they did. It’s part of culture.
