Do you know what's green ammonia?

At Enaex, we want to reduce as much as possible our carbon footprint. A very important way to do so is by using Chile's high renewable energy potential to produce green ammonia, which will allow us to replace the use of natural gas by green hydrogen and produce green ammonium nitrate for blasting services. When this project gets to its final phase, we will be able to reduce 1MM eq. ton of CO2 per year. But where are we today?

I feel a little silly. I worked a little on a LNG project and then at a place that made ammonia and I never even considered the ammonia could a) be made with electricity / electrolysis and b) replace the LNG. Green ammonia is the BIGGEST innovation in our lifetime. (Honestly, I don't see very much use for hydrogen, ammonia is a more practical fuel.)

Amazing presentation! That is brilliant to use hydrogen to replace hydrogen from other sources! This seems like a project that would work very well to balance the grid if the hydrogen could be produced when electricity needs to be dumped due to excess supply, rather than shutting off wind turbines or solar farms. Just flick the switch and start storing that cheap excess power in a useful way.
