Just changed the knock sensor on Bank 2 and hoping that it’s just a bad sensor. Your videos have helped me with a LOT of different issues while renovating. Thanks again!

Hey Kevin, I got a P0332 (knock sensor #2) error the other day on my ‘04 W22 chassis w/8.1L. After using this video to locate the knock sensors and making a few calls the consensus was to continue driving. I used my ScanGauge 2 to clear the code and CEL. So far, after approx 250 mile the CEL has not come back on. I’ve got a 1,100 mile trip coming up in a few weeks on want to check whatever I can to prevent issues on the upcoming trip. Thought I’d ask you what you think I should check. My rig has ~37,300 miles on it.

That would be for the EGR valve. It was no longer used after year 2004

There is no one sensor for the fuel trim numbers. But the main sensor would be the o2 sensor, then the maf sensor map, throttle position, it takes many sensors working together trying to maintain the 14.7 to 1 air fuel ratio.

Kevin, my Scan Guage 3 is reading +25 for the long term fuel trim on bank 1. The pending code is PO131 O2 sensor circuit low / bank 1 sensor 1 (no check engine light yet). I watched this video again in an attempt to verify the location of the O2 sensors. I understand there are 2 sensors (1 for ea bank). But shouldn't there be an O2 sensor after the cat converter? I am curious if a faulty O2 sensor has such a dramatic affect to the fuel trim lean condition I am experiencing.

To confirm bad o2 sensor just swap locations from bank 1 to bank 2 and see if the problem moved to the other side then you know you need new o2 sensors. If the lean condition stays confirm you don't have a exhaust leak on bank 1 = drivers side. Note we don't have post cat o2 sensors based on age you might want to replace them anyway but use only this one amzn.to/3mRpx2k note don't use any after market. Slim chance you may have a bad or plugged fuel injector on that side. Give me a call at 606-875-0125 Kevin

PS: +25% is in the danger zone for engine damage if you driving keep the RPM's down and take it slow going up steep grades that's when most engine failures occur .

Any updates on your long term fuel trims on bank 1? I have an intermittent issue where it will reach 21/22/23/24/25-ish range when I let off the throttle. When I am giving it gas it drops back to normal ranges. This is able to be reproduced each and every time.

Yes, they are at the very back by the firewall. When this engine is in a truck, it's not easy to get to. I had to get a step stool and climb up and lay on top of the engine to get to it from the front of the truck. It's right near the transmission bellhousing where it bolts to the engine. It's best to invest in the special deepwell socket made for oil sensor removal. It's a 1 and 1/ 16-inch deepwell socket. 1-1/16" I think I used a 10" extension bar and ratchet to reach down there to loosen it. You'll need to be careful, to not let any dirt get in the oil hole or on the new sensor when threading it in. I'm going to try using my USB endoscope camera to see behind the engine. Otherwise, you will be doing it by feeling to find the hole. Some of you can relate to that, I'm sure! 😂😅

Most knock sensors that get replaced don't need to be replaced to begin with a lot of times you may be running lean triggering the knock sensor call or text me for more info 606-875-0125 Kevin

My 02' Silverado 2500hd has a 3 wire coolant temperature sensor but the engine harness is only 2 wire? My temp gauge works fine although I have an intermittent p0118 and p0101 codes with stumbling/stalling.

Hi, Kevin. Do you know have two oxygen sensor voltage reading on your scanner? I hook up mine and I got oxygen sensor one at 0.55V and oxygen sensor two reads 0.0V. Looks like one is bad. Which one is sensor 1 and which one is sensor two? My RV fail smog. It 's running a little rich at idle. HC (hydrocarbon) measure 251, max is 150.
