Hi Chris, many thanks for the lessons. 1:05 - review the basic 1/2 step rules 1:23 - the second rule: on the beat. start on a note and go up a third - from the third follow the descending rules for the note below 2:12 - start on a 1/2 step below the note on the + n.b. the rules remain the same 4:21 - start with 1/2 step on the beat - play rules for top note the third as it now falls on the beat 5:52 - triads starting on the beat, follow the rule for the top note of the triad 6:17 - 1/2 step before triad on the + rule is the same as triad 6:34 - triad with 1/2 step before on the beat; rules descending are for the note below the top note of the triad

So awesome. Love the phrases with the half step starting on the beat. Beautiful stuff, brother

Hi Chris, awesome content. Yours is definitively on of my favorite guitar channels. Luckily YT allows for slowing down the videos: sometimes your pace is too fast for me 😉 I was wondering: do you play in bands? I'd love to hear your playing in such a context (even just a duo). Would you consider posting some stuff like that? (Just occasionally?). Thx again for your sharing your insights on Barry Harris' concepts...

Chris, I would LOVE if you would spend just a few minutes improvising before you start each video. Your playing is SO good!! And it would be great to see the things you are about to get into in action here and there by some means. I'm sure I'm not the only one that would love to see this! Thanks for another great lesson!! ♥

Thanks for an amazing series of videos from which I have learned tons. I wonder...why are only descending lines tackled? What about ascending? What would the rules be then?

I have not viewed all 133 lessons so if one does exist devoted to resolutions then disregard this request. Each time I listen to a lesson I'm always stunned by your resolutions and have to stop to get them down...in fact I'm putting together a transcript of same. I know that you have stated in the past to, 'not just let things hang out' after exciting some BH inventions, so could you devote some time to resolutions on the tonic or diatonic subs? Thanks Chris.

Hey Chris I had a thought about thinking 5 over 2 5 1. If you were for example to think of a phrase starting on the 4th of the 5 chord, when playing it over the 2 chord your hearing it as a minor 7. So your thinking different than what your hearing? I guess right now I can’t hear just 5 to 1 if the 2 chord is being played. I’m hearing it as seperate things. I guess when you practice over just 5 to 1 long enough the 2 chord just melds with the 5
