When she said "Imagine being the kid with a fountain pen" I was so shook, because I thought literally every kid had to go through these first years of school with learning how to write, first in pencil so you can erase and train and after that switch to the fountain pen when you're like 7???? But apparently not??? All I can say is: Germany is the place where you're the cool one once you switch to a biro. People that use fountain pens (especially in a school setting, office setting is different) were always kinda looked at weirdly, like they were behind or slow or something because they are so heavily associated with being a kid and the first 4 years of school. :D

If you experiment a lot, each art supply can do thousands of great things! I hope this helps you appreciate what you have. I'm sure you can do amazing art.

I love your reactions! I love the packaging, too and it's so easy to open. Just a few notes that might help clarify a few things. 1) Japanese has 3 writing systems (2 alphabets and 1 based on Chinese characters) so things are written not on lines, but in cubes. That's why the paper has cubes. 2) The ones you thought were for borders were meant for calendars and things, which are also super popular here. 3) The highlighter has a clear section so you can see what you are highlighting and be precise. It's useful when studying on busy trains. 4) The yellow sheet is also to help study. I see them used on the train, but am not sure how they really work. People cover the page and move down as they read, I guess, making it so they don't lose their place.

Do Americans not use fountain pens in school? I live in Berlin and I was not allowed to use any other pen in elementary school

Hellissou xg Not that I know of. Fountain pens are considered a luxury here in America.

Usually you use pencils in American schools. Ballpoint pens you see more often in high school (ages 14-17), But fountain pens are pretty much only used by rich business professionals, if that. I had no idea they were used in German schools! That’s fascinating!

when i was in school it was pretty normal to use a fountain pen. in elementary school everyone used one and a lot of kids kept using them until graduation. it feels really nice if you have found one that you really like writing with. i still have my favorite one from back then, but i dont use it anymore.

@@artistotaku8344 Yeah, its to do with how giveaways get counted legally in different countries. In some countries giveaways legally count as gambling, so require permits and stuff to run them. Its not worth the hassle for just one person to set up an international competition as it would require going through the different laws of different countries. Sucks, but that's the reality of it.
