That weird strip of wire is for the horn! It creates contact when you press the horn and the strip has small copper wires in it to complete the circuit and the horn blows. Boom!

that's a clockspring wire. It is for your horn to work . And it's supposed to be centered, when the wheel is cenetered so that when you turn the wheel, it doesn't break. If you put It back and it's not centered, it might be too long on one side, and too short on the other, so when you do a certain hard turn, you will break the wire and your horn will not work.

The Cable reel is for your turn signal so it knows when the steering wheel is in its neutral position and turns off your blink indicator. With aftermarket wheels with that out your blinker will still be blinking and you'll have to manually turn it off.

To fix the wheel all he has to do is take off the hub adapter & move it over a few notches on the steering shaft's spindles. Then you just put it back together & you're mint. Did the same thing with my Nardi on my e30.

That thing on the inside of the steering wheel is the clock spring, it is the wires for the horn and the airbag so they can spin within the wheel, and also the tab sticking off of the clock spring disengages the turn signal

thats just a standard ribbon cable, its wrapped around so much so that way there is enough ribbon no matter how far you turn the wheel, it includes wires for horns, airbags, audio control buttons, etc
