Do you love your wife? Do you cherish her?

Husbands, Do you love your wife? 🤷🏼‍♂️
Most will answer yes. But, do you Cherish Her?
This question was asked to me a few years back and it really started a transformation within my own heart. I will never claim to have it all together, but it’s a question I now ask other men who feel lost in their marriage.
Ephesians 5:25-33 is a great passage to read over on how Husbands should love and treat their wives. Specifically, verses 28-29 struck a chord in my heart. As someone who loves working out, cherishes my time in the gym, and what I put in my mouth (most of the time), I was not putting the same discipline, thoughts and actions towards my wife. I loved her, but I sure was not cherishing her the way I cherished myself. I had it backwards.
What is the biggest way you can start cherishing your wife? Learn how to die to self on a daily basis. It goes against everything this world teaches you. It goes against everything in your flesh that says, “put yourself first” and tells you to push your chest out to show everyone you have it together.
Yet, we have a Savior who could have done anything He wanted to save this world, but He led by example. he cherished us so much that He put His life own life on the cross and died for you and me. And because of that selfless act, I can become who He has created me to be.
Husbands, start dying to your own selfish desires and things that are plaguing you in the dark corners of the room that no one sees, so that your wife can become fully who she was created to be.
The crazy thing is, as you die to self, you become stronger in ways you could never have imagined on your own strength.
