Crit chance always caps at 60, so the more points in cc you have in your watch, the more space you have for crit damage in your build

There’s a guy in my clan, watch level 650ish. But he does more damage than a couple other guys in the clan with 4000 SHD. I feel more comfortable with him in Legendary than those 4000 guys. His situation aware is the main difference.

1000 vs 4000 doesn't matter stats wise. At that point it's just a time spent playing the game comparison and sometimes suprising when someone with that much time has a different level of "game knowledge" as someone with ostensibly much less time in game. There is theoretically a numerical difference between 650 and 1000 but likely at 650 you've already put all the necessary points into raw damage output and other impact SHD skills. If you haven't, you're off by what.. 10%? At best?

I've done the legendary weeklies at 50-70 using a full tank build. You should be good as long as you aren't the one always going down.

I’m lvl 3600 and I found the shed level 1k was always the little “placebo” telling, you’ve got more than normal. Your play-style, your situational awareness and sense of tactics makes your game. For me the expertise leveling has made my play style stronger, because it forced me to play with gear which wasn’t my strong suit to begin with, but now with exp. Lvl 17 I love to just mix and match and was comes out of it!

I agree. When running a new character for the first time after having watch maxed for a while, biggest thing I missed was that reload speed. I’ve played enough countdown to know that A LOT of people don’t have situational awareness in this game. Just have fun trying different builds/styles and play the many facets this game has to offer and the watch level will be up before you realize it

Tldr: High shd lvl allows resource farming new characters, expertise leveling because of said resource farm, included in the resource farming is optimized gear, it allows a little flexibility in crit stats on gear/mods, lastly makes weapons feel better. The main thing having a high shd level does is allows you to farm mass amounts of resources with the extra character slots. Start at wony play through that with a group or matchmaking get the watch then bam 9999 resources for a couple hours of play time. Those resources then allow the player to optimize, and make builds perfect. There's the other factor of someone not having a certain exotic to make a build like the one your running in the video with the memento backpack, I'm a returning player and just got to around 200 shd recently and just today got the memento from soloing through challenging summit to floor 10 ended up getting it to drop as the floor 9 reward. I was missing st elmos until a few days ago and today I also picked up the scorpio shotgun. Shd levels allows for a bit more flexibility for stats as others have said. You could also look at mods my highest crit dmg mod is 11% and others are 10.8% and 10.6%. Not all my stats are optimized as well so they aren't maxed out. Attachments are another thing. I mainly find myself wanting more shd for resource farming purposes than the stat bonuses granted they are nice and all but being able to just start a new boosted character run them for a few hours and get tons of resources is pretty insane to me. As far as I can tell it looks like the memento is expertise 14 on the high shd lvl while on the 0 its only proficient, I thought that was shared between your characters. Anyway that's another factor that could help and is included in the high shd has an advantage since the resource farm is a thing.

Took my strikers and healer build to my third character and forgot to upgrade the watch before going into merett missing, i definitely noticed the build wasn't doing as much damage and i was being one shot and dying so much faster vs my main character. So for me the watch being maxed out helps

I believe what ultimately affects your gameplay is game sense and awareness. But Yes the limitations are more visible in a lower shd level watch. Like for example when i tried a hunters fury build with a vector around like level 300 a few months back. And during that time the reload speed and lack of crit damage was clearly noticeable with a vector. As youre running around and constantly engaging, the vector felt like a pain in the ass to reload and that limited my playstyle of playing overly aggressive. But fast forward a few months and now I'm around shd level 820. And the builds feel much much better. Hunters fury works perfectly now and i can play overly aggressive if i want to. The reloads don't seem that long either and i can engage very quickly. Same with crit damage. I dont have to squeeze for crit damage everywhere. Rather i can just invest in other points. Although these little things matter, it never means a lower shd level player is necessarily bad. If he/she understands the basics of the game then they will get the job done. And if they manage to put together a decent build with enough synergy theres nothing stopping them from performing as well as a level 5000 player.

I think SHD level only matters in the DZ (for health). I don't go into the DZ too often. I've been shot through some 3-feet of a concrete wall/barrier all too often, and/or ambushed on extraction of contaminated items. It's just not fun for me. Trying a new playstyle is infintely more differentiating than a loadout/watch.

Tux, I'm glad you're testing the same exact build using a no watch level no specialization player versus a maxed watch level and specialization build to see whether or not it gives a big advantage. I would like to see more streamers make two variations of their builds to save the confusion though. One for no watch and specialization variation, and one for seasoned player content. Either build won't be much difference, but new players don't know that until you explain to them why. The major problem I've noticed with new people having no watch level, or very low watch levels is that when they watch videos on KZbin claiming how overpowered the build is, those new players don't have the slightest clue how to use the build to suit their playstyle because they've not played enough to hone what exactly is their playstyle and what they like or dislike yet. I've also ran into some new players believing that all those streamers having 8k+ watch levels are like a walking Division 2 lore library, and that they know far more than the players who have never streamed but are just as knowledgeable of the game, they completely ignore any aid to help them survive the content they wish to play on, and some get down right hateful because it's not exactly the way the streamer build it. I usually leave their group shortly after that, I'm not arguing with someone who intentionally wishes to suffer and not enjoy the content they paid for. Problem is these new players are dead set on that particular build, believing that is how they wish to play, they'll farm all the pieces for the gear, the exotics, and still can't survive as they get mowed down in hard and challenging difficulty, frustrated while trying to copy the streamer build, cause they don't know how to play the way the build was meant to be played, as that particular build was geared towards players who know what to expect, have situational awareness whether solo or with a full team, and how the missions are played out. They'll mirror the build almost to the tee, but they still don't obtain any long term situational awareness from wearing the build as they've not played long enough to obtain that information, they don't utilize cover because somehow they believe the crusader shield is their god tier survivability, nor do they understand what the talents do to benefit them with that particular build. Then they change to an entirely different build believing it'll help, again not fully understanding what the attributes do, the talents do for those builds, and the synergies of the weapons to suit the build and then rage quit when "they can't" survive the content the build was showcased on, leave for a year or more, come back and try again with the same toxic bullshit attitude. That's the problem I've been running into lately, moreso within the past 3-4 months than anything.

Seems like the watch is just another source of attributes that help out when you look at the stat page…. But there are other sources (10% from watch saves a slot and a half of CHC mods that can be used for other mods…like CHD in your build). So it may make or break a very niche build that needs the additional attributes the watch provides but agree, in most cases it doesn’t matter. Great video!

I’ve had the game since beta and I have done all the raids and flawless incursion and done some speed runs and I just recently hit watch 1000 because I didn’t want to farm levels (besides the pass for new guns). It really only comes down to whether you focus cc or cd on the watch and just use either grupo or ceska on your build

The only builds I think you need a high watch level are low crit builds (ex-survivalist perf eff healer), hybrids, hazard builds, headshot builds, and regen pvp builds

I'm shd lvl 75 atm. i came back to d2 at roughly 20 something (i beat warlords and didn't do much after that). Someone i grouped with randomly while farming for the coyote mask told me about countdown, so i did that from 20 someting to 45, at 45 i put together a build with 4 piece striker, a sokolov backpack (gives 15%smg damages 1p set bonus) with Bloodsucker, coyote mask and lady death, which i got on my very first run of countdown (what i was trying to get) anyway, the exact same build from 45 to now 75 with no changes has performed VERY noticeably better from just 30 more shd levels, and every couple levels my ttk is noticeably faster and i'm able to survive longer because I'm able to kill faster, granting me bonus armor from bloodsucker. I checked the range every couple seconds to eliminate player skill just to see what my raw stats are doing for me and i've went from 120k to 200k per hit to around 500k per shot. shd level plays more into the stats than you think. multiplicative from what seems to be measly increases turns out to be chunkier than i thought

I'm SHD 6000+ and I get that same question 'does it really matter?' and the honest answer is yes. The stats though, not really. The points you get EVERY level instead of every 5th level are what you're using to optimize your gear. That's where the real difference is.

I have a hybrid build. DPS w/ survivability 3 Providence 1 Grupo Improvised kneepads and holster both of which get extra mod slot. All red build & mods crit damage Talents bloodsucker and Unbreakable. Thats where i get the survivability. Crit chance 60 Crit damage 227

Ive started playing on world challenging because sometimes i just want to play the game without the having to spend 5-10 minutes doing a control point, where on challenging i can do 2 for the same amount of time and get more xp.

It definatley can break some builds and other will work almost as good… When my boy was SHD 100-200 allot of the builds we made for him (which I stole from Tux) didnt really work very well on his char as on mine past SHD 800. Was mostly HF/Stricker and one shot builds, skill builds works just fine…

In the DZ SHD level definitely matters. I'm SHD level 658 and I JUST started winning a few DZ battles when before this i would lose every single battle. I still lose 8/10 battles but before I'd lose 10/10 battles. So i can see progress.

To be fair, situational awareness tops SHD level but SHD levels do offer a number of tangible benefits to min max builds including providing resources for expertise ranking and gear upgrades.

Ran and cleared the recent 'Incursion' game mode several times with 2 LFG players that were around 250-350SHD (Shoutout to Noble91 and FrogJedi!!!). These guys were arguably some of the best ive gamed with, they went flawless, and even out performed some clan members who were 4000-10000SHD. If you know how to game and build the best you can within your trait cap limits, you can clear the hardest content without a high SHD level.

yeah im not bragging but im watchlevel 80 and been playing a few weeks only, i mostly only do countdowns cause i absolutely love it, and im always saving and rezzing 4000+ players. why? cause im not so freaking delusional and think i can take on 4 hunters on my freaking own on challenging/heroic or stand in every freaking aoe the enemy throws at me without dodgerolling out of the way from time to time, rushing into a room head first and have to survive 1-2 minutes on my own cause the other 7 players are still picking up loot and opening chests. so yeah its clearly the player

I have two accounts. One account SHD 19,200 ish and other account 350 ish. It's all about game awareness like one comment has already mentioned. Knowing where enemy is at all times and where they come from (spawn) is what matters. So no I don't think watch level really matters.

Going straight from level 0 to level 1000 would probably be noticeable, but adding the points as you level up, you're not going to notice the difference. I finally passed 1000 a couple weeks ago. Hasn't suddenly made me an unstoppable killing machine. I'm still the walking bullet magnet I've always been, lol.

He also hadn't figured out how builds work yet, so he was always running mismatched gear. I spent tons of time explaining how gear attributes and talents work and sending him videos to watch, but the mismatched gear persisted, lol.

My watch level is around 350-360 and I mainly just heal countdowns or when my buddies get on, But I’ve played world of Warcraft since level cap 60 and always been a healer or tank, But I recently got in a countdown with another healer and his watch was well over 4k and no hate or shame but my boy was not on par with the healing, Situational awareness was not there, the fast thinking of a oh shit moment, I guess it came down to I’m use to running around healing in battlegrounds in world of Warcraft and thus my brain is use to the situational awareness of things, But Im sure like ever game it just comes down to the player, Skills, And playstyle

I never go by watch, i always look at their build. If i see a build i can't make sense of, i question their skill. But even then i know people try weird builds so i may ask them about their build to get a better feel.

I feel like the watches honestly had a reverse effect on the game then what they probably intended. Now days people use the watch number as some kind of epeen thing. Mine is only 675 and i kill players with 11k watches in dz daily. A watch level does not mean you can aim! Lets be honest most people got those insane watch numbers using exploits or glitches very few people have a watch level over 7 to 8k playing the game legit.

Watch level 1000 gives you free crit, so your mods can go into something else on mask, vest and backpack.

I think another factors you are pointing out is that a person with SHD 1k and SHD 0, the 0 hasnt been farming gear as long. They will NOT have the maxed out stats on anything. So using the exact same gear on both is a bit of a strech. I understand that you are trying to show the stat difference between them, but it still isn't realistic. I recently started playing on XBOX, I mainly play PC (only at SHD 400 on PC, I returned recently after playing the first year.) My Xbox is only about 40 SHD (started very recently) and I don't have half the exotics, stats in my library, or expertise levels. I can easily handle level 4 CPs and legendary missions on PC, but struggle with level 3s on xbox. I think all in all, SHD doesnt matter as much as people think, but it is the ONLY real way to judge someone who is joining your group. I'm not saying kick them at all, I actually dont think any content in the game is too hard to carry anyone. And more gear for the other guy is another person who can help carry later :)

also there is a mentality to higher level watches. knowledge gives an aggressive strategy. i run with with hud options off. i have died more than a few times alone with teammates well behind me, even when i snipe, that is lack aggression where they are dependent on gunplay from a distance rather than positioning and awareness. They start the fight well outside the npc zone of detection instead of being stealthy because they are kill hungry. in the end, playstyle is subjective. matchmaker beware...

I prefer Challenging open world because when the game wants you to die youre going to die. With Unbreakable and bloodsucker there are times im dead in 4 or 5 shots and not up close shots.

In my experience, so far, it is unpleasant playing countdown with players with 10k+ watches. They tend to be able to kill hunters alone, and take advantage, which excludes other players from getting the group benefits. I've tried blocking them but that doesn't work in countdown unless you initiate the raid. I instead have taken to play countdown with 2 other friends, and when we come across a 10k, we watch for signs in 1st 2 minutes, and if we see it, we all leave.

@nikotearcangel I just hit level 15 expertise and in my opinion and experience, I haven't felt any different at all. One night of gaming at around 10, I felt a very minute difference in one build and that went away very quickly. It's great to find someone else like me telling the truth about their bad experience in the game. Most people are positive turds and try telling me this game probably isn't for me and that I should quit. Maybe they are right, because this game is toxic as hell and is only a stupid grind for most of us. I've been playing this game since a month after release and it's been nothing but a bad experience for me.

But in my opinion and experience, this game is TOXIC and has been from day one. Everything in the game has a negative impact to you. Day one the npcs are strong as hell and perfect. We are not perfect and can't do half the things these enemies can do. They're strong and faster, they hide better, never reload or have to build stacks, they run and shoot at full speed while we have slower movement speed and have to stop to reload and shoot them. I can go on and on about this TOXIC environment.

I thought the reason i sucked was cuz of the watch Lv 389 Guess I’m just bad lol. I can’t even manage to max out my gear I collect resources so slowly. Situational awareness? Ha!
