I actually developed drawing skills after I learned 3D. Initially I used other people blueprints to model cars, then I got a tablet and started drawing my own. That was 10 years ago….

That's what I thought. If you learn 3d modeling/sculpting that should help you learn drawing fundamentals like form and perspective.

I am a 2D artist and I can tell you that you can learn blender with zero drawing skills. But for modeling characters, my 2D drawing experience helped me a lot. I would dread trying to sculpt or model a character without that skill. I am sure I could still do it without being able to draw, but it would take a lot-lot longer. Of course, It takes a long time to learn how to draw at a competent level, so there's that to consider.

Of course you don't need Drawing skills to learn Blender, Maya, Zbrush, Word, Excel...you only need drawing skills to make illustrations professionally(and sometimes, not even that). BUT having a good knowledge in Drawing fundamentals is andvantage in many fields, and in 3D is a plus.

Being a 3d artist without drawing skills is like being a criples soldier. You can, but why would you want that? Working hard for a minimum results, while competing with people that can make everything far better with less work involved. This is the reason why major companies used to hire only people who can draw, this is a reason why military doesn`t employ crippled people. It`s just a waste of human resource. So i feel like videos like this are very harmful for people. A flow of low-qualified untalanted "artists" will make 3d MUCH cheaper and devalue work of real professionals, while also creating insane and persistent competition for starting 3d artists. So, really, if you can`t draw - respect artists and drop 3d (like i did), because with your hard work and tons of killed time you will only make world worse. that`s how reality works.

Aside from anatomy you can learn everything by doing photography, and it's maybe even better for 3d because in 3d you also have a camera and therefore with photography you'll learn what is aperture, aperture blades, shutter speed, the 180° rule for video and how shutter speed and framerate affect the look of a video, depth of field,how to compose an image, ect.

not necessary to start, not necessary to learn, necessary to make the difference. Not necessary, but very useful and if you do good 2d, your 3d improves a lot.
