People looked healthier back then. And I’ll probably get a bit of flack for saying this, but Irish people were more polite, well mannered, gentle, and less full of themselves in this clip compared to nowadays.

Definitely they were. Ive watched enough of these type of interviews from other countries and people where definitely a lot more well spoken and polite everywhere. It could be the standard of education went down or maybe the lack of reading etc, hard to say. Defiantly healthier looking too, but that seems more obvious, less overeating (especially processed food) and a lot more exercise.

@@Peter-k2j Somone their age in the early 1900s would say the same of them though wouldn't they? I agree that these people seem warmer and more eloquent, but popular etiquette, speech, and facial features shift naturally over time. There's really not much that can be done about it except to try and emulate their health and general kindness as well as recognize what we have improved upon, such as racial and gender equality.
