My wife (who passed away this past year) wanted to start a new career in counseling at 54. She needed to go get her masters, then start building a practice. She was ambitious! Maybe passionate is a better concept. I loved it. She supported me in my career for years (I’m still in it at 61), and I was excited to support her. Becoming her biggest fan was a great thing for me, and she told me often she really relied on it to help her keep going.

I'm 62 and my wife passed away 10 years ago. After that I began taking care of my parents. They weren't just getting older, they were becoming elderly. My father died and I recently put my mom in a very nice (and expensive) assisted living facility. Now I have the strong urge to date and relax. The last thing I want is a woman who is ambitious. I want to sell everything and buy a boat and live up and down the east coast and in the Caribbean.

I hope you are brainstorming what type of groups you might join in order to meet women who would perhaps share your dreams for your future. 🤎

I think some guys who say they are looking for this might be describing someone with a dismissive-avoidant attachment style. I always used to say “strong” instead of “ambitious”. “I like strong women”. I have a natural, anxious-preoccupied attachment style (which I have been healing), and frequently opposites really do attract. Good news is that strong women can also be great partners!
