They are a great coral, say whatever you want... If you show a non-reef keeper this coral they are mesmerised.

It is, unfortunately, my mom’s favorite coral. She doesn’t care about the SPS, just sinularia and Xenia. She managed to get a frag of it for free, and showed it to me. It’s currently in my refugium growing rapidly, and I’m praying it never makes it up to the DT

Kinda interesting that most people don’t know of Bali Giant Xenia which only grows in a single thick stock that doesn’t spread around the tank at all - you basically get a Pom Pom style Xenia tree structure in your tank. One of my personal favorite corals. The more you know 😎

Does it pulse I’ve been looking for coral that creates movement

I use these in my refugium as another nutrient control method along with macro algae. You definitely have to ensure there is a barrier for preventing them from getting back into your return chamber, but its really a good way to contol No and Po beacuse of how fast they grow. I also have come to realize that when they arent pulsing, its a sign your iron is very low.

Xenia elongata is one of my favourites. The compact size is nice for smaller aquariums. My current experiment in a UNS 45s is a war between Xenia and Ricordia neon. Should be fun to see

Ugh I heard pocillapora and got a sick feeling lol. Totally took over my last tank. Xenia does go out of control but I found them fairly easy to just rip off rock I didn’t want them on. Your right about using tweezers.

It's my favorite plague coral. I started a 13g ultra rock flower garden with pulsing xenia and capt. jerk palys for contrast

I love pulsing Xenia. They are so cool to watch. However, I had to get rid of mine. They are weeds. I had it isolated on a rock, but it didn't stay isolated

I watched a video and it looks easy to control. I'm going to get one and see if I can control it. They are my favorite looking coral. So I'll see if I can control it. Hope I'm lucky! 😅

They have a place. I've seen cool tanks with xenia. But after all the xenia horror stories I went with clove polyps instead. Still fast growing and pretty.

I have some who has yellow and rainbow polyps for sale and also pulsing xenias, I’m new to the hobby, I might get the cloves, maybe xenias isn’t a good idea, I don’t want it to take over

It's like a Sirens call so mesmerising and beautiful but to heed it's call leads to no good in the end ...and oh the smell when dealing with it that sickly sweet disturbing smell...it's been 15 years since my last Xenia relapse and even today that smell still haunts me 🤢

Lol im a new reefer so it a giving that I love them. I just bought a biocibe 16 and im going to just put 2 clowns a clean up crew and nothing else but pulsing xenia
@bearded-flipflop2 жыл бұрын
I tried it in 2 tanks and promised myself I'll keep an eye on it and it just shrank and melted away. I have a 3rd tank that has a bubble tip green sinularia and and pulsing xenia. The xenia took off quickly and has now slowed down but the problem I have is the sinularia buds bits off all the time and that seems to be getting everywhere way more invasive.

Is gsp like pulsing xenia as well, just like a weed and can take over? I have someone selling clove polyps and pulsing xenias and he wants to give me gsp but I don’t want it to be like a invasive weed as well? New to the hobby so that’s for your help

I don’t know what the hell to do… my tank is engulfed with them and now slowly approaching some expensive corals and they are starting to spread to each rock.. I don’t know what to do.. my nitrates are zero my tank levels are great and stable and I feel they are very beneficial to tanks if they can be controlled somewhere in the tank separately .. help!

Pulsing Xenia is a pest. I had it in my 125 reef aquarium. It spreads quickly. Manually removal and starving the tank was the only way that I was able to get rid of it.

if you have an "issue" removing xenia from the tank you aren't capable of running a tank. You shut a tank down "cause of xenia"? Dude, can you feed yourself?
