When I increase the mileage in my training, I tend to develop issues with my calves. These issues have mostly been minor, but given that I've torn a calf muscle in the past, they make me nervous. My calves are quite large and overdeveloped, which makes me self-conscious. I think my running style may be contributing to their overuse. Should I focus on further strengthening my calves or try identifying and strengthening the areas of weakness that might be causing the overuse, such as my hamstrings? Alternatively, should I try modifying my running style to reduce the over-dependency on my calves? For your reference, I regularly do strength work and have seen a physio, but I would appreciate your thoughts.
