I like how you took a fairly dreary photo and turned it into a painting that was full of life by adding in subtle color everywhere. Instead of feeling drab and grey my emotions feel happy and wanting to smile. I love the sparkle and the color choices!

This is a very helpful tutorial and a beautiful painting. I like your impressionist style as well. There are a lot of different videos on KZbin on how to prepare a canvas. It would be great to see how you do this if possible. Thank you.

I’ve learned a lot. Thank you. I’m developing a similar style but I tend to be fiddling to have sharper and more literal renditions .You have encouraged me to be much more impressionist and I can’t wait to try a looser and better overall colour harmony into my work. However , on reflection , could you consider a slightly brighter sky for this scene. To me the sky looked just a bit lifeless compared to the rest of the painting.
@OilPaintingwithRobertMee4 ай бұрын
This could be why the town and water seems so lively. If the sky was also lively the effect may be lost.

@@OilPaintingwithRobertMee What do you use to clean your brushes then?
@OilPaintingwithRobertMee5 ай бұрын
@HelenThorne-or1ho They sit in oil between sessions. Very rarely need to wash them. In the description there is a link to a video where I discuss this. If I do use any white spirit, the old stuff gets used as fire lighter!
