What's bizarre to me is most of the reaction to tamasha being called a 'bollywood ramanctized movie' are coming from those who didnt watch the full movie. The relationship Ved and Tara had is not like that, I'd tell all those who are complaining to just watch the movie itself. It taps into the psychology of a man you succumbed to the societal pressures and became a different person.

Exactly this literally shows a man struggling with trauma caused as a child and behaving in ways that can be explained by bad parenting tactics. That doesn't mean he isn't worthy of love. It just means he needs to heal and find closure before he gets into a serious relationship so tht he doesn't hurt anyone through his struggles of finding himself.

For the Tamasha scene, you gotta watch the whole film. This scene won't make sense until then. They're not even dating at that point. Deepika's character could just walk out like Ranbir's character said. She chose to stay there cuz her character was supposed to be a psychiatrist here. Ranbir's character didn't know that. Here is the thing: not everything in life is ideal. So saying a particular romance is not "ideal" doesn't get you anywhere. Regarding Tamasha, it was a film about flawed characters. Particularly Ved. He suffers from internal conflicts, and what Tara said to him, however trivial it might be, broke him. Even though deep down he needed her, he couldn't bring himself to become vulnerable again. This is basically why I hate relationship 'experts' - they operate on generalizations while dumping all the nuances that make every relationship unique.

And the fact that Tamasha isn’t celebrating it, they are showing that it’s wrong, they don’t promote putting up with it like she says 🙄 Rather Kabir Singh was celebrating such relationships
@scientia.veritas
@scientia.veritas 2 жыл бұрын
@@vasudhasharma5532 I would argue that Kabir Singh wasn't celebrating such relationships either. Yes, the relationship was toxic, mostly due to Kabir's personality, and he was the reason it ended. And he hit rock bottom after it, and emerged a better person. The fact that he got the girl in the end might seem like they are 'celebrating' it, but we have no evidence to suggest that their relationship was toxic after they had reconciled.

@sanskritibarman4928
@sanskritibarman4928 2 жыл бұрын
@@vasudhasharma5532 exactly Tara moved on to better things when she realised that Ved needs to heal on his own. On the other hand Preeti was ready to have him in the blink of his presence no matter how demeaning it was for her. That in itself shows that you should put up with your partner's toxic behaviour and wait till he gets better.
@scientia.veritas
@scientia.veritas 2 жыл бұрын
@@sanskritibarman4928 I don't see how the movie justifies your last statement. On the contrary, things between them ended when Kabir reached his tipping point and only resumed AFTER he had recovered and emerged as a better person. Narratively, I found the ending unsatisfactory. I would have preferred if he moved on with his life, just content with the fact that he has become better while also realising that he has lost Preeti for good cos his past action has consequences and he has to live with them. The director instead wanted a typical Indian movie happy ending. I don't like it, but I don't hate it any more than the gazilions of other happy endings we got in other dramas.

God you are so wrong with tamasha. First of all they weren't in a relationship during that scene she had already rejected him but wanted to just meet once and nowhere in the film it is justified. And it's also very clearly shown that ved is a flawed character who needs time to discover himself. Watch the imtiaz ali video explaining that scene he clearly says that ved is being unfair and it's not justified

I feel the analysis of Tamasha scene is unnecessary. The movie never claimed to show the best practices in romance nor was the movie named "Romance Guide 101". Its a story of real people - flawed & broken, who have layers to their character. If we go according to this video, then every film should show perfect romance with perfect characters. This video is so stupid

Also from my previous comment it was not right for my partner to treat me that way neither was it my duty to help him heal. I just wanted to be there for him while he worked through his behaviour and habits. We have made it through and now we rarely fight or have any form of guilt or agony. He didn't need a therapist he just needed the will power to change his perspective and his actions in the course.

Not everyone has watched Tamasha and not everyone cares. What she is saying is still very much valid, irrespective of whether the context of the scene was different as many of those in the comments already seem to know. So maybe stop making this video all about Tamasha? The comments have made the context of the movie amply clear (how people even watch these movies is beyond me 😂).

I'm no expert, but they are smart enough to not spend the rest of their life with strangers 😂😂 There everyone has their own life and doesn't interfere in others. Whereas in India you first live life according to the society's terms 😂 If you don't normalise premarital relationship, there's a good chance you will end up in a relationship like this.
@pan5619
@pan5619 2 жыл бұрын
Why no arrange marriages? because most kids leave their parents(home) to live on their own. Parents hardly support their child after he/she has completed the school education. (you can think from here...) In India, Parents (Majority) support their childrens till they die. Parents feel they have completed their duty when their childrens get married. (If you are still dependent on your Parents then why bother with Love Marriage, just because western countries follows this tradition??!, WHY NOT ALSO FOLLOW THEIR TRADITION TO BECOME independent AFTER 12TH.
@arjunsunil3700
@arjunsunil3700 2 жыл бұрын
@@pan5619 Well, in India you might not even have the choice to become independent after turning 18. And given the typical Indian household, you won't even be aware of having an option of choosing what to do yourself after turning 18. Especially if you're a girl, your parents won't let you have your way until marriage. The old 'shaadi ke baad jo karna he karlo beta'. Your choice of course to study, your choice of job, your choice of marriage.....everything will be decided by them. Personal choice and liberty is not something Indian society promotes. Indians have a long way to go and improve in these kind of things.

You are missing the context of the movie. This scene in perticular is beautiful. Ved is trying finding himself. He knows tara is right and tara can see how creative and how different ved's personality is than what is trying to live with. She can see what brings life to ved. But ved is in denial. Tara understands that something might have happened with ved and is trying to help. Tara loves ved and wants to bring out his true personality and is not ready to settle down with normal ordinary, boring ved when he can be really happy. Mam this movie is a masterpiece and so much ahead of times. 2015 was not ready for this gem. Ved is not abusive. Abusive people just want to hurt you because that makes them happy.

Okay, Lol no. The things you said about abusive relationships are absolutely correct. But what you said about Tamasha was totally wrong. I think first of all people need to understand the difference between what is natural and what is right/wrong. I see this amongst a lot of audiences of shows/movies that they always judge the characters on the basis of whether they are right or wrong. A certain reaction might not be right, but what you have to question is "Is it natural to react like that in such a situation?" Stop saying that whatever is being shown is "romanticizing" something. Just because something is being shown in a movie or a show doesn't necessarily mean that it is being romanticized or normalized. This is the dumbest way to interpret something. You have to check what happens before or after that certain incident. Is there a counterargument present? If it is there, you cannot call something problematic. Because that is the criticism, right there, in front of your eyes in the form of a counterargument. Ved here deals with a lot of shit, a lot of difficulties, and there is a reason why he is reacting this way. He may not be right, but it is natural for him to react this way given his mental situation. Also, Tara is not trying to be his psychiatrist. Even the dialogue is there "Tum ho kaun? psychiatrist? Main patient hoon tumhara?" to which she replies that she is just concerned. After this scene, she also leaves him. Because she knew she would not be able to continue to deal with this. And he is also shown repenting, realizing how wrong he was, and if you have watched the last scene of the movie, you would know how much respect he has for her and how grateful he is to have Tara in his life. There is a reason why her name is Tara. Watch the whole movie, try looking beyond the concept of right and wrong, see if there is a counterargument, then comment. Your analysis of the Tamasha scene was completely wrong. Edit: Someone has finally explained it so well, so read it here: mysonfinn.tumblr.com/post/686277878539812864/rnorningstars-rnorningstars-i-dont-know-how-to

I totally disagree about this. We all have mental health issues but it isn't addressed like physical health especially when you've had negligent parents all your life, that trauma leaves a deep impact on your character. But ppl can heal and become better. It's a continuous evolving process. I went through a rough patch with my partner at a point and I agree that I was miserable and didn't want to put up with the non-sense forever. It's upto the person who is undergoing that instability to decide whether they want to get out of it and function in a healthy way. Some don't and that shouldn't be entertained, but others are willing to be better for their own good. I hate this take it or leave it attitude. You can't be in a relationship without any ups and downs. It's way too perfect and not a real relationship. But if your partner wants you to feel miserable and derives pleasure out of it or doesn't want to change for good even if he assures he will, then that's a big red flag.
