This came up in my YT feed, and coincidentally Steve Kaufman mentioned you at dinner last night, so I watched. Very nice! Playing, teaching and music. We met at ResoSummit I think? Great job!

Hi Greg! We indeed hung out at Reso-Summit! I took a few classes from you (stuff I still can't play)... Your material pops up in my private lessons from time to time; most recently I worked on your arrangement of Panhandle Rag with a student, great arrangement! Cheers, hope to run into you again soon. Joe

Being a harmony to a song is harder than just playing the melody lead. You have more to select from if you are not mimicking the lyrics. However, very little harmony is shown or mentioned on most lessons of dobro or guitar flavor. thanks for the pattern and the insight. This will help me not drown out my guitar buddy and keep me interested in the proceedings. Once you pass the beginner stage the field is empty of instruction for the next step... thanks again for filling a gap.

Great lesson .I have played in many differant bands from R and B to country . As a long time guitar player that is used to playing blues solos I watched just two lessons and can not believe how much I've got out of this . I enjoy playing different genre's of music and recently have picked up mandolin and dobro though not so good at it . These lessons have been priceless . More real world application

You can play any boy was long as you land on (stop in) one of the string tones of the chord you are in. I can’t remember who but someone once said there are no wrong notes, just dissonant and pleasing notes. I like to say there are no wrong notes just wrong times to play them. 😜

That's true! Never a bad idea to know which ones are in your scale, though...

What make is that pretty resonator? What is the square under your picking hand?
@dobrojoeschannel7012 Жыл бұрын
I play a Scheerhorn dobro, made by Tim Scheerhorn. The new ones are made by National. The square under my hand is just for instructional purposes, it makes it easier to see the strings. I only use it when making instructional videos... thanks!

When would one be too old to learn the dobro? Nearing 60 but I love the dobro and I can´t (even) play guitar. Either I´m tone deaf, have no rythm or my fingers are to short..
@dobrojoeschannel7012 Жыл бұрын
Never too old! It takes patience and time, but I think anyone can learn. I also believe you can make some great music while keeping things simple. If you're tone deaf or have no rhythm, we can work on that, and I've seen great guitarists with stubby, or missing fingers, so I'll dismiss that one! Good luck!
