Riding costal areas is hard on the bikes! I met Doc about a month ago, if he seems like a good guy in the videos, you should meet him. Honestly he is one of the nicest people I met while riding in SC. We made the treck from Ontario Canada, and because Doc has helped me out of many situations wrenching, I had to stop in and say thank you. I got some pictures with him, and a chip with his initials on it! The pic is in a frame on my shop wall with the chip in the frame! Low Country is an awesome dealer. They knew I was travelling so not spending a whole load of money, but they all took the time to be friendly! Thanks Doc! Adam

My son and myself met DOC at a Harley drag race in rockingham and even though he was busier than a one legged man in a ass kicking 🦵 contest he took time to talk and was super friendly and always responds back with any questions I send him, nice to know there are still a few people like Doc still around

Good one Doc! I put absorbing paper between the oil filter and the block before I unscrew it. Not much leakage there. But I certainly have to check for corrosion on the electrics. I use a bit of electrical contact spray and some silicone spray for the rubber. Thanks for the tip.

The early EVO Stator plug would tend to un-plug itself so Harley put a spring over the stator plug on later models.

I have a 2000 FLSTS that I discovered oil in the stator/regulator plug that was coming from the primary oil, via the wiring insulation. The insulation was wicking the oil from the primary to the internals of the plug. I replaced the stator and regulator 44k miles ago and no more problems with that! I used Cycle Electric parts.

Hi Doc, this is one of the points I am wondering about since decates. Why does the company locate the regulator below the oilfilter and directly behind the frontwheel? From my point of view there are a lot of locations one a bike which are much more qualified ..... But never the less many thanks for every video you did. Once more greetings from Germany Harry
@LowCountryHarleyDavidson7 ай бұрын
I hear and understand your point of view. Early years had the mechanical regulator in many places. As the charging system got stronger the regulator had to be “ in the wind” to keep it cool. So there it stays…Doc

Doc, this is your newest video so far. I went through the charging system leakage but mine was due to water getting in to my '07 Ultra with a stock 103" except V&H true duals. Believe it or not, after purchasing my '07 in Oct. of '06(yes out of the crate) I've had "3" extended warranties(15 years total). It all ended March of last year. With my bike I've needed it. Mike at Las Vegas Harley has been my guru. I want more bottom end torque. When I'm loaded down with traveling gear, and the wife on board, i want to get to hiway speed before the end of the on ramp with poer to spare. Right now I get about 33mpg. Any suggestions and anybody have knowledge of a great tuner in Vegas? As always, your ARE the bikers best trusted friend.

@LowCountryHarleyDavidson6 ай бұрын
Air leaks. First look closely for a California port that has lost its cap. Next intake leaks at manifold seals near heads. Aftermarket or Harley performance air cleaner installed without removing Factory top brace. Last time fuel filter was changed? A semi clogged filter can’t flow so a lean condition can be present. Just a few thoughts
