Thank you for the video! Sorry if I put some personal observations, not concerning the train or the line, but it is the first time that I have the opportunity of looking that area. My late father told me many times of the time he spent during WW2 in Strausberg, Muncheberg, Kustrin, as italian war prisoner. Of course in those years there was no border, because the land beyond the river Oder was Germany too, that is the territories lost at the end of the war. This video has a special and touching meaning for me.

Great video with many good news in the Ostbahn topic I have few issues in terms of the video: 1. I think that from 6:01 to 6:21 ithe delay should be 2 years instead of 2 hours😁 2. NEB "RegioSharks" are not really "RegioSharks" due to the fact that "RegioShark" is a trademark of Czech Republic national carrier - České dráhy. NEB uses this vehicles as just PESA Link DHMUs (Diesel-Hydraulic Multiple Units). 3. PESA Link vehicles are certified with few series/type designations: - manufacturer type: 223M - POLREGIO series: SA139 - Niederbarnimer Eisenbahn/Deutche Bahn series (BR): 632/633 - České dráhy rada: 844 Each of the markings have its own systematics and we should use the right way of designating the vehicles: - SA139 (ex. PKP/present POLREGIO marking) uses "-" between the series SA139 and the particular number of the vehicle - for example SA139-027 (not SA139 027/SA139.027/SA 139.027) - in NEB vehicle should be designated as VT 632.027 (I don`t undesratnd why they changed that few times) - in DB the same vehicle would be designated as 632 027 - in ČD it would be designated as 844 027-* (*is a kind of a checksum related to EVN) The only marking with a comma between the series and the vehicle serial number is found in the markings used by NEB.

Since ’Oder’ also means 'or' in German, that probably leads to some funny and confusing interactions. "Woher kommst du?" "Frankfurt, Oder." "Oder waß?"

@inerdt6 ай бұрын
It's even worse because if you say ", oder?" at the end of a statement you're asking the listener to verify it. (Kinda like "isn't it?" or "right?" in English. But also Frankfurt (Oder) is just the name of the railway station, in regular language you would either just say Frankfurt or if you needed to specify which Frankfurt you would also say the preposition, so Frankfurt an der Oder.

Germany and Poland belong to the Schengen area, so in normal conditions there are no border controls. This line should get a double track and be electrified. It will be surely needed in the future.

In Canada, a train that is 2 hours late is considered "on time" 🙂 Construction of a bridge over river that is only 2 hours late would be considered miraculous 🙂 Question, when line re-opens, what process deterines that NEB instead of DB or someone else gets the route? Or is there no process and any railway can start it and NEB just happened to be first one?
@bahnspotterEU6 ай бұрын
Regional rail services in Germany are contracted out to different operators every 10-15 years usually. Somewhat like in the UK.
