To everyone saying Singapore is too strict and too harsh, think about it this way: Imagine a country with such a low crime rate that you feel safe sending your children to school alone on public transport every day. Where you can walk around alone at night and be perfectly fine. Where the ground is clean and the air is clean. Imagine never running into drug addicts getting high on the side of the road, never needing to worry about accidentally walking into the wrong alley and getting mugged. A country where school shootings do not exist, where gun violence does not exist. That is what Singapore is like, sure the laws can be strict and it isn't perfect, but I never lived in fear. I lived in Singapore for 18 years and am currently studying in the US for university. There are more crime alerts in a week on my school's campus alone then there is in a month in the entire country of Singapore. I miss the feeling of safety.

3 years for drug consumption is crazy, people who do drugs have a problem putting them behind bars doesnt help them it just removes the problem for a certain amount of time. Most drug users still use it after getting released, they need a reformation program to solve the problem permanently

I would think it would be a solution. 3 years of this situation. After that amount of time that has passed, they are clean. I bet they think "Yeah I'm not doing another 3 years of that to get high for one night."

Singapore is such a tiny country but with a crazily rich government and a well payed highly efficient management system, and has zero tolerance toward drugs. If you can still mange to get yourself some drug under such circumstances, you are very sussy. Your crime probably also includes Illegal smuggling of contraband at least.

I was talking to an Australian lady who lived in Singapore. She was more than willing to forego certain political rights because it was a very safe place. In Australia, she had to have male friends accompany her to her car outside a restaurant because of the presence of unruly males outside. In Singapore, at least in this prison, the guards run the prison, unlike in many Western countries where it is the prisoners. Obviously, if you want little crime, Singapore is a great example of how to achieve it.
