Once one of my friend asked me why you always listening the old songs.he is a justin bieber kinda music guy. i asked him to sit, and i played this song. during the last guitar part he closed his eyes and i could see he is tightening his grips on the chair, his hands holding tight... then when the song was over i looked at him and i smiled; but he aint said a single word, nor he replied anything, no smiles nothing... then i told myself "hey Mark here is another guy for you, take him.." now he is a mark knopfler fan better than i do..

The world wouldn't be the same without Mark Knopfler and the Dire Straits. it's sad to realize that there is going to be a day without him. thankfully, we can listen to this brilliant music even after. i have been a fan of the dire straits as long as i can remember and i'm NEVER ever tired of hearing it. This, is music. This, is creativity. This, is having a gift. NO autotune. NO computers. Just a man and his guitar. and indeed, lets not forget, the fantastic combo of the band members including that fantastic drummer. It's sad they aren't together anymore. And as good as Mark is and as fantastic his music, i still prefer the Dire Straits. In his solo albums, you can see Mark's 'yourney' with music and his creative capabilities. But in the Dire Straits, it's absolute perfection. Every. Single. Time.

This is a beautifully composed song, with great guitar playing. Where Do You Think You’re Going? is a song of two halves, as it starts off relatively low-key, then turns more upbeat towards the end. Dire Straits were pretty much incomparable.

One of my favourite DS songs. There is an unbelievable live video version of this song from 79. Mark is going wild. It is my favourite video I watch every day. You can find it by searching "daily motion dire straits where do you think". It is fantastic and Mark is clearly having so much fun. Mark played with such enthusiasm before he became megafamous.
