Great stuff. I was just looking in my old Dock Boggs tab book, and I see the tuning is right .etc so this video is incredibly helpful!

I didn't know there was a tab book for Dock Boggs! When was it published? Who wrote it?

Another excellent lesson - after many views, I'm nearly there - albeit, far too slow. I can't thank you enough for these lessons.
@ColinBazsali2 жыл бұрын
It's natural to start very slow. It may take weeks or months to get it to the speed Boggs used in his 1920s recording-which, by the way, he later complained was way too fast. Listen to his 1960s recordings of it; much slower.
@christopherturner22382 жыл бұрын
@@ColinBazsali Thank you for responding. I listen to both regularly, but now I can really hear just how different the speeds are. Thanks again - I don't learn very well from tabs so these lessons are so helpful.

Colin, Hey! It's Russ here again! I am glad to see you back again! Your videos and instruction is just simply amazing! Please, keep the vids coming! On a side note, I recently uploaded all the Pete Seeger rainbow quest TV show episodes, to youtube, on my two channels. You might have already watched most of them, but if you have not check them out! I love them!

Actually, I have hardly seen any of them! Just clips here and there. Thanks for posting those! I'm going to watch them all!

Brand new subscriber and happy to be here! I love the bluesy sound of Dock Boggs, which is what encouraged me to try and learn to play the banjo. I'm a newbie, but your intimate and patient teaching style is helping me challenge myself to learn. By the way, I really like Reuben's Train (especially the intro)--have you ever taught that song the way Dock plays it? Thanks!!
@ColinBazsali2 жыл бұрын
I never listened to Dock's version of Reuben's Train before now. I really like it. I've learned various versions of that song over the years, and none of them have stuck as my "go-to" way to play it. This might be it.

Would it be possible to have the tab of this beautiful tune? I find it hard to figure it out despite your excellent explanation

Sorry, I don't have tabs for this one.

If these videos were a brick, they would be worth triple their weight in gold. Thanks so much. Do you live in the Midwest? I think I might have spotted you at a festival. If not you have a doppelgänger who also likes making music.

Hey what kind of mandolin is that on the wall? Is it a stradolin by chance?
@ColinBazsali2 жыл бұрын
Why, yes it is a Stradolin! I love that old thing! Plays and sounds as good as a vintage Gibson at a tiny fraction of the price. Do you have one?
