Falcon lake a couple of weekend's ago, most dont have a problem, first we got the stay away then we get the stupid. Arms folded, i'm calling the conservation he says. I said ill wait. 20" smallie exploded out of the water right in front of him. He lost it. Was hilarious. Thx B for the story.

I can see both sides of it. As an Angler I get cranky when another boat passes by me to close or even stops and starts fishing around me and if I am being honest it is hypocritical of me to think "You have the whole lake to fish why are you beside me?" When that is obviously what these dock owners are thinking. I am waiting for the day someone comes out onto their dock and starts casting under my boat 😂
@jamiebrucefishing3 ай бұрын
Hahaha that’s an awesome perspective . I might try it this summer off my dock , will let ya know how it plays out 😂

Pretty typical for Ontario, most of Southwestern Ontario is either inaccessible or down to one small launch with little parking. Some places keep the boat launches for access to the water, but the parking in and around the launch is only for residents. Other areas you pay outrageous fees. In most of these cases the owners of the land on the water formed groups to control council, and water access. Dock owners are a problem on the water, with automated sprayers, or buzzing anglers with seadoos and boats. At the end of the day, you are beneath them and they would sooner not see you, back to your hole peasent.

I have a story to tell you, i had a guy fishing in front of my crib and dock from dusk till dawn everyday of the week, i would walk out of to leave for work at 5 in the morning he would be there staring , i would get home 10 hours later he was still there. my wife and daughter started to complain about the pest. Here how i fixed the problem, found out where he lived and now me and a couple of my buddies made the front of his crib a social gathering center 24/7. Some people want privacy. so please have some decency and respect for that or the front of your crib could possibly turn into a 711.

All Canadain water been around a lot longer than the people. A few years ago I had a guy told me that he owns the riverbank cross the street from his house. I said to him show me the deed on the riverbank. The riverbank slope from the street, it level off about 8 down. Can't fill it in to build a home. River comes up to the top of the riverbank every spring flooding here in Fredericton New Brunswick Canada

Man the lake I fished in ontario, the dock owners came out, saw us catching and said what they use. Some lakes have really nice people and others have morons. Best thing I do to them is I understand you have nothing better to do but we all share the water, can you point me to which part of the water you own?

My home lake is Chickamauga in Tennessee. I have to say I have never run into this problem. I have run into many other issues on the water but fortunately not dock owners. I just don’t get it. My family had a dock on Hiwassee river for many years and we never said anything negative to fisherman. If anything we always had great chitchat with them.
@JoeHollandFishing Жыл бұрын
Yup, Used to drive me nuts running into Karen's that thought they owned the water. Little trick if you want to fish the docks with less confrontation. I learned this by accident one day. I had bigger style headphones on while practicing on a dock lake, listening to music. Batteries died in the headphones but I left them on, dock owners would run down, I would pretend I couldn't hear them because of the music and not give them the time of day and they would leave. Most wouldn't even say anything after seeing the ear/headphones. If I didn't want to deal with them I would throw the ole headphones on and pretend I couldn't hear them and they quickly go away,.

Dear Jamie , I am a subscriber and and a cottage owner in your area in NW Ontario. I am a fisherman and have fished in Lake of The Woods all my life. I would like to add to this conversation. If someone is fishing off my dock I will routinely speak to them and offer suggestions. I enjoy the company of fishermen! However during a tournament (money) or sometimes not - I have had some bad experiences. I think my family is entitled to swim off our dock without being hooked.! And if I have a boat tied to the dock I do not enjoy finding ripped upholstery! Particularly if it is in my antique boat. I have also harvested an assortment of lures attached to my dock. If I could offer a suggestion. We have lots of smallies on the reefs in deep water and they are huge! I know because I have caught them. Respectfully submitted.

I remember certain bait shop owner telling all of social media there was a giant ski under this jagoffs dock right by the bus stop on LOTW. That dock saw a lot of action that summer. If you want a dock get one on a quiet back lake. People are just f’d. The law says you have the right to fish and hunt lawfully without harassment. You’re a nicer guy than I ever was. Lol

I can see why there are times folks get upset when someone is fishing a dock. Not everyone has the skillset to fish a dock without banging everything in sight and just generally leaving a mess of tangled lines and fish hooks. As with most things it's one of those "one bad apple" deals where that one fisherman is a total A$$ about it causes a lot of hard feelings. It's a bad situation at this point and I just avoid it when I can.
@jamiebrucefishing Жыл бұрын
Yep, a little different when you're done fishing it and then they come down to chirp! I can see both sides, especially as a dock owner.. but damn.

@@jamiebrucefishing I agree but it's normal in the states now. I spend 2-3 weeks fishing in the wilderness of Ontario every summer and the general attitude of the Canadians I encounter is going downhill it seems. Too much watching merican fox news, and others, is bleeding a crappy attitude of the viewers in merica, that watch that type of news, onto Canadians. It's sad to see how normally open minded folks are emulating the worst part of what we have in the states... Fantastic pod-casts by the way!!
