Great introduction to Docker, Postgres and DataGrip, what would the ballpark annual cost be for the AWS set up that you show?
@user-tt6nc6mo7k3 жыл бұрын
I'm confused, why do you need a separate docker container to run Postgres commands? Can you not just run the command in the container that contains the Postgres database?
@hassansalam21502 жыл бұрын
separate docker containers are basically other end users to whom you want to give access to your Postgres database running in its respective container. Correct me if im wrong

Assalamu Alaikum brother, I got a different error at 11.th minute that I use Windows computer and don't understand the concept a lot. What is the meaning of "the input device is not a TTY. If you are using mintty, try prefixing the command with 'winpty'" and how can I handle it? Thank you so much for your all videos. I am newbie and learning a lot from your videos.

If you're like me coming in for selective tips for a project you're already in the middle of, make sure the directory you're in when you run docker run.... -v "$PWD:/var/lib/postgresql/data" is empty. Or change $PWD to an empty directory. I took an L for 20 minutes on that and I don't want anyone else going down the same way

Hey, I am getting this error : docker: Error response from daemon: create $PWD: "$PWD" includes invalid characters for a local volume name, only "[a-zA-Z0-9][a-zA-Z0-9_.-]" are allowed. If you intended to pass a host directory, use absolute path. after running this command: docker run --name db -p 5432:5432 --network=db -v "$PWD:/var/lib/postgresql/data" -e POSTGRES_PASSWORD=password -d postgres:alpine Please help.

2 years late but if someone has that same error you just have to remove the '$' (it worked like this for me on Windows)

What is the point of setting up docker containers, why are we setting up multiple containers vs just one. Everybody talks about how great Docker is but unless you have like a Masters degree they don't explain the basic foundational function of a docker.
