This is a perfect tutorial to understand the concept and use of containerization and docker. One thing can be improved is the speech, lot of time it seemed the speaker is screaming and speaking too fast, also sometimes it was unclear. Yet, I had no problem to get the grasp of the content, so speech was definitely not a big roadblocker, especifically the content was so clear and well designed that speech did not create a big issue, except for little annoyance sometimes. Thank you so much for educating.

hi thanks for providing such a good video with details about docker and containers i have one question , how to retrieve an image once removed from docker conatiner , need to create or it pull from repository?
@edurekaIN
@edurekaIN 7 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for checking out our tutorial! We're glad you found it useful. With regard to your query, there is no need to retrieve images from containers because a copy of the docker image will always be present in your local repository. Multiple containers can be spinned off from one docker image and thus you can use that Image straight away. To list down all the images in your repository, you can run this command: docker images. Hope this helps. Cheers!

@6:21, instructor talks about memory allocation. There is a concept of memory overcommit / over subscription. Would that solve the wastage he was referring to?.
@edurekaIN
@edurekaIN 7 жыл бұрын
+JP Srinivas, neither Memory over-commitment nor Memory over-subscription will help out because at the end of the day, the resources are the same and implementing either of them will cause loss in performance. Over-subscription means assigning more memory to the VMs than the memory that actually exists on the physical host and this is a bad idea because it will make your system slower. Over-commitment means that VMs are using more memory than the amount of memory that actually exists on the physical host and this will lead to catastrophic situations like downtime and system crashing. Hope this helps. Cheers!

Ridiculously Amazing video..:) great work man!!!I have one query which is - when u install Apache on host machine using docker image, it gets installed inside the container right..and not on the host machine?? what is the exact benefit we are getting out of it since we are not able to install it on our machine??
@edurekaIN
@edurekaIN 7 жыл бұрын
Hey Abhishek, thanks for the wonderful feedback! Here's the answer to your query: The benefit is that once Apache is installed in the container, that container can be shipped to any other machine and by simply running that container, an instance of Apache will become active in that machine. As a result you save all the effort you would put in to set-up a apache instance. Hope this helps. Do follow our channel to stay posted on upcoming videos. Cheers!

I have a question regarding docker memory utilization.At 6:54 in the video, if total memory is 16 GB for Docker and assume first container takes 4 GB. 1. Is the memory allocation fixed or can the memory be used by other containers (Second, third) based on the need as they reside on a same physical machine. 2. The memory Allocated for second docker is 35 GB (6:54) when available is 16 GB. I hope this should be a typo. I like the way the tutorial is handled using questions. Cheers

+Ram dev, thanks for checking out our tutorial! Yes, there is a typo in the slide. It should be 3 gb instead of 35 gb. With regard to your other question, the answer is as follows: Docker containers are basically just processes, so they can allocate memory in all the usual ways that a process can. Containers are not like VM's. So they don't usually reserve memory for them.It can dispatch memory as needed to processes. Hope this helps. Cheers!
