Ok so, you've got Ubuntu running within a Docker container running within Ubuntu via WSL2 which is running on Windows. My question is "why" now that we know the "how". Thanks for the vids!

It's funny that you started with these videos at the same time as me having Kubernetes/Docker projects at work. My other project is in eth.hacking (kali in WSL) and I was thinking how to get it working in Windows. Well, your video did the job! :) Great minds think alike! Cheers D.!

Thanks for the great content as usual David. I am a subscriber to your Ansible for network engineers course on GNS3 Academy and i am trying to improve my skills in this Automation / Network to Code world! I'd love to see a video on setting up an Ansible Container within docker on WSL2 (perhaps using docker-compose?), and the reasons for and against running Ansible in local containers for network management.

Great video! I have a question: You were using localhost but each instance has its own IP so if you had started two websites in two diferent wsl2 instances on the same port lets say 8080, How would I access each one and to which one does "localhost" is mapped? Thank you very much! Cheers

Best way is, just jump into it. Start using it and search for commands as you go. Whenever you stuck at something or don't know command, just google it as there is NO complete guide. Though you can find a lot of guides for different tasks separately

Watch some of the other videos in the series. There is very tight integration between Windows and Linux. You can use Linux commands on Windows and Windows applications like Explorer with Linux. VM boots up almost instantly etc.

I think this docker thing is a mess. So you have windows 10 and wsl just with that is complicated enough, then you have docker on top and then you try to pull things that I don't know exactly that they are and what they do (tetris? Why? 😵) , weird cli messages, ports madness and so on. I don t know at this point if the performance of the pc are dropped because you have all this stuff running. It's not easy, it s as complicated as it is, and this is just the beginning?! this is a virtual machine mess... 😵😵

Not everyone has your level of knowledge. When explaining technology I need to use terms others will understand and explain at a level that they understand. I could also go into the depths of BGP, MPLS, OSPF, STP and many other protocols, but not everyone would understand that either. Don't look down on others with less knowledge. We all started at zero.

Why run this on a Windows machine? Why not run Linux natively? Why put all of your eggs in the Microsoft basket? Why have any performance hit, by channeling everything through Windows? Windows is not as reliable as Linux. Windows is not as secure as Linux. Windows is not as fast as Linux. Plus, Microsoft (especially Windows version 10) is a huge spyware company, competing with Google for the crown. Linux has forever been a thorn in the side of Windows. So Microsoft smartly includes the means to run Linux, all-the-while being in 100% control of the environment. And their plan is working. Folks are running their Linux code on Windows, and becoming dependent on Microsoft. Down the road, when Microsoft decides that they have enough Linux coverage (and they will know, because Windows 10 phones home with this info), they will announce that they are phasing out WSL as of Windows version 13 (or whatever), or as of some update. Then the scramble to port everything to Windows begins, and Linux becomes a memory. And then watch the prices go up for Windows licensing. Microsoft is a ruthless company. They are after 100% domination of the OS market. Not good for the public. Stop paying for a spyware OS, especially when the goal is to run Linux applications.
