Hey, folks, welcome to "DocTalk." I'm glad you joined us today. We're going to have a show talking about weaning, and it's something that we go through with our calves every fall. It's a very stressful time for the calf and the cow, so stay tuned, we're going to learn more about some different methods that work and maybe don't work so well.

I fenceline wean and I find the separation is harder on my cows than the calves. I have docile cows and the calves are about 6 or 7 months old at weaning

I have have a small herd of 25 brood cows. I’ve been feed cows and calves in the barn recently to get the calves used to the routine. After feeding, I turn out the cows and keep the calves in the barn for about fifteen minutes. The cows stress, But, the calves don’t.
