Sad. Although pleading guilty does show that he is taking responsibility.

Mr.Perry knew the risks and that’s sad….and then the ones that he trusted fed off of his addiction.

Shouldnt every place that sells cigarettes now plead guilty in the deaths of all smokers who have lung cancer? Oh wait, i forgot, Matthew wasnt a drug-seekimg fiend, and the doctor held him at gunpoint, made him to do a bunch of ketamine, then forced him to go swimming while in a K Hole. The lack of personal responsibility in some people is astounding. Matthew sadly chose death instead of life. And before you even try it, i am an alcoholic with 13 years. Im sober for a reason. Everyday its a choice. Its harder tham anyone could imagine, but nobody has it any worse than anyone else with their own addiction. Thinking that way is how you justify relapses. Like Matthew did. Matthew had nothing to say or teach anyone about recovery. He was never sober, according to his closest confidants. You dont look to career criminals to understand how to follow the law. Nor should you follow his example. He did this to himself. If you act like you are powerless, then you are. Choices matter. His choices mattered. He made bad ones and he knew it. Everytime he said he got clean he didn't. Thats not the drug dealers fault. Once you know you are an addict, you have nobody to blame. But thats good, because now you have the power to change it. This kind of rhetoric is what all the folks i know who relapsed bought into. In rehab, hes the guy we all knew would go back out right away. And he did. And now hes gone when he should be here. If he hadnt gotten it from this guy, he wouldve gotten it somewhere else. Blaming others instead of empowering yourself to change is why people stay sick.

Sorry Patrick, but that is a bit harsh. Like you I'm an alcoholic and I struggle every day. If you have an addiction you of all people should understand how hard it is to break. I recently have come down with a lung disease and on top of that a pinched nerve which led me to drinking again to deal with the pain and inability to sleep. Matthew was trying. I wonder when it was that he started seeing this doctor? Perhaps before that he was clean. And then the doctor sold him on this treatment that would wean him off his addiction slowly. Most people trust doctors and as a former drug addict this had to sound really good to Matt. Who wouldn't in his situation jump at this opportunity! You take the position that he basically knew he was dosing again. According to him, this was simply treatment. You're making a leap in judgment of how much he actually did know. I fight every night not to drink, but when the pain goes shooting down my legs and I realize that if I don't get any sleep (sometimes for many days) I run a huge risk of developing pneumonia again for the 4th time this year and I barely survived the 3d, it's seems like an easy and justifiable choice to have the drink. That's my situation. Matt's was much different and I'm sure yours is different also.

@@rabbit251 Jesus. You're seemingly doing what we call "white-knuckling" it, and I'm surprised it works for you(sounds like with your relapses, it really isn't). We all suffer in different ways and blaming physical problems is not helpful at all. Also, you're still towing the line that somehow you or he have worse addictions. And that's a path to recidivism. The rhetoric should be harsh because this is life or death. Thanks for your comment, but that's dangerous, irresponsible rhetoric you're spouting off and I hope you don't try to lay that on others. The only people who got sober from the several hundreds of addicts I've known thought like I do about this. Because we learned it from successful addicts, not ones who die in pools like Matthew, or struggle every night to fight their addiction like yourself. Sounds rough. I hope you make it. But I'll be honest, it sounds like a victims mindset. You gotta want the win to get the goal. The goal, in this case, being a real life full of addiction, not an everyday struggle like you're having. Yikes. Squared. P.S. who wouldn't jump at the opportunity to switch vices? How about those of us who actually take this thing seriously and overcome our addiction, rather than repress it? Good luck. 😬

According to Matthew Perry's book, people struggled to stop him from taking drugs, even when he was locked in a room with guards outside. So, I guess he made his choice.

I thought there were 5 people charged: his assistant, primary dr, his dr's connection and the (female) street dealer... who is the 5th? If 3 already pleaded (pled?) guilty and 2 more await trial, who is the 3rd to plead guilty, other than this dr and MP's PA? This whole thing makes me sick to my stomach. Welcome to Hollywood.... what's YOUR dream? ☹🥺

I used to think the same thing, until my nephew was clean for over a year and his "friend" texted him repeatedly trying to talk him into using... we have the transcripts of these messages. My nephew passed away after one snort. The "friend" went on trial and got locked up. When you deal drugs, you run the risk of taking a life. It's not rocket science.
