I'm new to this channel . I got a kick out of the banner" long live styrene" LOL. I'm 57 years old. When I was 25, I worked / managed a hobby shop for a couple years and accumulated a huge car model collection and some Military models I never got around to build . All these years I kept them in my parents closet for long time . I've got the ravenous bug to build again, problem is I don't have the time to build what I want to build but thank you KZbin and the guys are building. You have inspired me and taught me new techniques. Problem is after all these years of not building I picked on a harder model to start with in that is the Johan Chrysler turbine car talking about a nightmare for a newbie. Not only the build is a little bit complicated but finding the right colors for the interior and exterior . Oy !

My very first kit was by AURORA back in the real early 60's, and it was a 34 coupe named SCREAM PUFF! and I have managed to track almost a complete one down between 3 or 4 different sources! just always loved the rear rolled pan on that along with the flat firewall!

My number one overall,...is the " Gas Ronda", long nose Mustang! My older brother built it, when it first came out, and painted it pink! Have never been able to find it, or get it out of my head. Somebody said that ebay had one for $385,...but I tend to go into a standing body twitch, anytime I think of spending that much on a model! However,...$385 is a lot less, then the therapy I'll need if I don't get it soon! Nice selection Cranky.

Nice list, I built the 64 Chevy Impala Hardtop a long time ago. I really need to make a top 10 list myself, I am just getting back into the hobby. I had built some kits when I was younger, some got broken when I moved and I never got them replaced. One of those kits are bringing blood like the Midnight Cowboy Chevy wrecker.

I'm building the 49 mercury right now. It really is an awesome kit. Another awesome kit, is the 61 Ford Galaxie styleline kit. Lots of build flexibility, and you can work with a lot of extra parts

Thanks for the list Doc,those are some great kits. My taste is quite eclectic. One of my new favorites is the Revell of Germany Mercedes AMG SLS,which I would really like to see you build. I have always loved cars from the 20's through the early 70's.

your #1 is my #2 my #1 is Revells VW bug. it came in pink back when I built it. I got really good at chopping them also chopped the 50 chevy pickup a few times along with cutting out the doors. for stealing parts the corvet rodster from AMT (I think) was a good place to get running gear for the truck. the spoked rims looked great. sadly I cant get non of that over here in europ.

I saw one of those '49 Mercury's at the El Cajon Car Show a few weeks ago. That is one crazy car design. I've never seen a car built lower to the ground than that.. It was purple metal flake but no flames painted on it.

Gee Doc you have some amazing kits available to you over there! very very limited and expensive Down-under in Australia, unfortunately the shipping costs many e-bayers are charging to post down here is highway bloody robbery! like some are asking $34 and that I can wear, but others up to almost $100 and we then have to pay a 10% tax on importing! I have a few now, over 50 ready to go but even the paints are hard to find! Will follow your channel eagerly, thanks for hearing my whinge! heh

I'd like to build the Dukes of Hazard model again I really had fun with that one. I built the willy too but the front suspension gave me problems, especially waiting for the glue to set up. I kept drying too fast, or out of position. I ending up customizing it with parts from another model.

Wouldn't mind building the 1941 Willys if it was in stock version. But I don't think it is, is it? I'm just starting the 1950 Oldsmobile by Revell. Kind of a change for me, since I build mostly tanks and other military stuff.

I'm a little confused here. The various companies have been making plastic model kits since the 1950s and yet, your "Top 10 kits of all time" are all kits that have been issued within the last 5-10 years? Hmmm, methinks you're missing a few incredible kits of the last 5 decades.

$22.95 a kit? we would all be in seventh heaven here in Australia IF we could buy any kit for that price! most kits down here cost around $60.00 plush shipping! almost cheaper to buy from the States direct! but your post costs are thru the roof now, like$35.00 a kit, then we get hit also for GST Tax of 10% this country is no longer the lucky country, its the RIP OFF COUNTRY! Sure wish I had kept all the old models I built way back when I was a skinny wheel. I did though however stumble onto a copy of the BIG DEUCE that I actually built back in the early 70's channelled over the frame, looks like I will just redo it the same way!, still kewl! I have looked all through your video's Dr and cannot find one you have done on either un-gluing old bodies or stripping paint off them, Yes I have tried the DETTOL way, which was very disappointing to say the least! what do you use please? I love your site and am excited to be back modelling in my retirement, have about 70 new kits just waiting while we tidy up and get sorted after our change of residence!.
