First off, Jeff, I've been watching your show on and off for a couple of years now. I was a subscriber then I would unsubscribe when I didn't like a guest and thought they were fraudulent. I made many unkind and judgmental comments to many doubting their experiences and they were here to cash in on their sharing. I want to apologize to you and anyone who I unfairly criticized to satisfy my ego. It was this show that forced me to take a good hard look in the mirror and know that you always approach each show through your heart and give everyone the space to express whatever truth is for them. Also thank you Dr. Deborah for your beautiful and heartfelt story.

This is great! As a nurse of 25yrs worked hospice 6yrs including Covid… went back to work at a nursing home for a mental break but I refuse to watch ppl suffer if I could help… so if I saw a person starting to decline, I asked the family had they noticed and gave them options to help the residents stay comfortable in the end and recommend hospice…. Well, once the person was put on hospice the facility wouldn’t get paid the bulk of the money…. So I was forced to leave that job. The facility was losing money. So now that I’m gone ppl will suffer with end stage CHF which is suffocating on lung fluids. I’m not sure where I will go from here but I can’t watch people suffering and do nothing in a world that’s is all about its mighty dollar.

I was an LPN for 40 years at the bedside and worked in many areas of care, including long-term care and I did not realize this. What a tragedy that elderly people have to die like this all for money. If only they knew the real truth, more people could advocate for freestanding hospices, and more support for hospice in the home.

Are there specific questions family members can ask of the docs/nurses to make a determination for themselves or take things to the next level? Like ask for a specific test(s) and/or monitoring of some sort to be done?
@melissawentlandmoreno45597 ай бұрын
Hospice nurse practitioner here.. know your rights. Every Medicare patient is eligible for hospice care at end of life no matter where they reside. The family must DEMAND an evaluation by hospice agency. Many nursing homes offer comfort care… this IS NOT HOSPICE no matter what they say….hospice follows Medicare rules and yes the snf gets paid less because of it. Situation is very sad and causes much moral distress for caregivers

Wow! What a thoughtful articulation of perhaps the profoundest of experiences someone can have outside, above, beyond, and yet next to life itself. Ms. King is a delight to listen to, an engaging, smart, fun, down to earth person with an awfully big capacity for insight and reflection as well as the ability to share in a way that is bright, comforting, powerful. I'm reduced to lists of adjectives, ha ha. The motivation behind her children's book: to present children with a sense of their own wonderful belonging to the Everything, that nothing in life can touch the beauty and strength of their souls...well, wow! So glad I found this. Thank you both x
@beekneed7 ай бұрын
P.S. Dr. King, I should've said ☺️. It's pretty amazing that her experiences were so real and so profound that they led her to re-evaluate her role in a field (psychology/therapy) wherein to reveal one's personal life, and something as professionally & ontologically 'risky' as an NDE, to clients presnted such brand-new ethical conflicts for her. She's a pretty smart and insightful cookie, so to speak, so it's wonderful to see her working with, rather than 'against' (that is, without sharing with others) her new understanding of life by reaching out through writing, participation in IANDS, etc.

Once we determine our true nature what do we do? Only thing I can think of is continue being the light… continue embracing the ppl who are drawn to me to feel the relief they need in those moments. I feel them drawing from me and drawing to me… I can be proud of how many times I tried to help others… at any moment I’d give my meal or doggie bag to a stranger, I pay attention to the spirit that says “give that last $10 in your wallet NOW!” and do it because I hear it… and other times it will say “give the dollar bills” and I feel the urge to secretly find that person even if they move out of sight to give them what I was told to give. It appears like I’m giving them money but honestly, I feel like I’m giving them light energy because even though they appear homeless they don’t seem to be in dire distress or need. I’m just being obedient in which I’m immediately rewarded in my spirit for. It’s like I hear/feel “good girl!”, “you are obedient and I am proud of you” all this overflow from two or three dollars??? This is why I heed the prompting…. during Covid I rented two rooms in my house to several people…it was my pleasure and it helped them but when it became a point where it was destructive I had to tell them to leave. That was saddening to have them leave but we must put on our own oxygen mask and never allow someone to try to remove it. Thank you!

@SanctifiedLady. Sometimes, just sometimes ,people pleasing and fawning over people and wanting to be good and doing good are responses to trauma during childhood ( eg.emotional neglect in childhood leads to seeking validation from people who do not have our best interests at heart. We repeat our childhood programming,our childhood experience) leaving us vulnerable to being used and abused. It can be very destructive because we neglect or ignore our natural intuition/our true gut instinct that is warning us, in favour of our early childhood programming . And so we don't see the glaring red flags and unfortunately put ourselves in danger sometimes. Being a good Samaritan can be helpful but it can also be very risky. Be careful.

Thx Jeff🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧😇

I believe she is definitely onto something with her book, and I do feel she can expand in a way that hasn't been done. The subject matter is endless on a childs journey. Say one parent dies and children initially explained and cared for but then kind of forgotten. Topics in a group setting would be great. Whatever direction she's headed concerning, children I approve. A wealth of material can come from adult friends and what they encounter becoming an adult. She's awesome!!! Great guest, Jeff.

I think one of the most important takeaways from this is she said the souls that were "bad" in life were still just fine. This is a common detail about these accounts as well as the fact that suffering is extremely beneficial to a soul. What I don't see is people making the connection that perhaps "bad" people aren't really bad in the Earthly way we think but perhaps we can learn to look at all people, experiences etc without judgment and consider that perhaps "bad" people are the givers of the highly regarded gift of suffering 🤔
