I would argue that the climax is when Faustus kisses Helen. That is the tragic hero’s point of no return. He even says she sucks his soul out. What follows next is the falling action speeding him to his damnation. I might also suggest that the Old Man is God. This is the real reason Mephistophilis can’t touch him. The big guns have come out for the final time to plead with Faustus.
@swarnimbage95043 жыл бұрын
I agree. The most important action. The soul being dragged down to hell is only the aftermath of the climatic action and thus is what we call the catastrophe.

Dwight Stone yes, there are many adaptions, most popular are Marlowe’s en Goethe’s (german). There are small differences, but most things are the same.

The Cathedral Church of the city of Santa Ana de Coro in Venezuela still has the plaque from the time of its foundation in 1527 written in Spanish and German, there is a link between the third german governor of Venezuela Phillip Von Hutten, a doctor and a court fortune teller of the Emperor Charles V, called Faust, who were very close friends and documentation was left in the hands of the Von Hutten family warning him of a disastrous outcome, it is alleged that this event was part of Goethe's inspiration for his work Faust, of that there is a fabled novel the Moon of the Faust by Francisco Herrera Luque. At first there was no southern border because they believed that the province of Tierra Firme (actual Venezuela) bordered the Pacific and they believed that the northern limit being the Caribbean, the south would be the Pacific. In World War II, the Nazis wanted to use the argument of stealing their province to claim rights over the western region of Venezuela.

Es-chews instead of eschews? I don't get why Americans always go out of their way to say basic words wrong all the time, it's like they're really uncomfortable with English. It makes it really hard to take any intellectual input very seriously. I've heard eschews pronounced many times in my 47 years on this earth, and I've never heard it mangled like Es-Chews like that.
