If you watch the clip, the baby was born premature. And many people keep working as late into pregnancy as possible so they have more time off work with the baby

This is America. You work until you go into labor, and if you’re lucky enough to work a job that offers maternity leave, you get six weeks. Otherwise, good bye job.

@ the uk you SHOULD get 40 weeks but you need to put in for it early, because her IP backed out late into the pregnancy and she had held off putting in incase she changed her mind she didn’t have any leave plus she hadn’t worked there a year so I doubt she would have been eligible

A lot of women in the US sadly don't have the luxury to get off work to prepare for the birth of their baby. And after the birth, some jobs don't even offer paid maternity leave, so the next day they're back at work just trying to get the next paycheck.
