Doctor Octopus Costume Tutorial (Spider-Man 2)

It was time to delve back into my childhood and make a costume of my favourite comic book supervillain based on the AMAZING Alfred Molina's Doc Ock from Sam Rami's film 'Spider-Man 2'
In this video I will take you through how the costume was made and also how it all goes on. Big thanks to my Dad for helping me out on this project.

First off FANTASTIC WORK!!!!!! I am working on a Dock Ock for a group cosplay with my friends. If you dont mind could you tell me where I could find the chandelier roses to attach the arms to the back. I went to my local home improvement store and they looked at me like I was crazy LOL

Thank you! Haha you should be able to get them at proper electrical outlet stores or online. There's a company here in the UK called TCL that does them but i'm not sure of that company is available anywhere else. But if you search around for 'Detachable chandelier roses' i'm sure you should be able to find them somewhere :)

Ive looked at your cosplay a million times! This year Im going to attempt it, im horrible at making foam casting etc, so im carving out pool noodles! The painting tips I think will help immensely! Thank you for an awesome example!

Add some claws to the end of your pools noodles and stick 4 to your back and your done apart form colouring

When I was a kid I had a box with holes and aluminum foil coils with carboard with the claws and I had string to each arm so it looked like I was moving them. Oh yeah also a back pack diy

I remember seeing you come out the elevator in october on the saturday, i was very impressed! Myself and some friends are going as the sinister six next october (or may in a year depending on how ready we are), and i'll be making my own doc ock I was wondering how much gum foam you needed in the end? I was originally going to build cardboard segments then coat them in some form of resin, but thats easier said than done!

you could have dismantled the tentacles into small parts and re-made into an animated one, using sticks to hold on to the wrist of each tentacles, and able to control the opening and closing of the palms. Ask two friends one on the left one on the right to hold on the sticks to move the tentacles

Hear that music in the background? It's Doc Ock's music from the movie. I have a feeling Danny Elfman was inspired by the movie Hellraiser 2's soundtrack for THIS one. Because it sounds just like the main theme to that movie.
