About Stephen King’s Doctor Sleep:
#DoctorSleep is the continuation of Danny Torrance’s story 40 years after the terrifying events of Stephen King’s The Shining. Still irrevocably scarred by the trauma he endured as a child at the Overlook, Dan Torrance has fought to find some semblance of peace. But that peace is shattered when he encounters Abra, a courageous teenager with her own powerful extrasensory gift, known as the “shine.”

@@jaymum23 I hate seeing little children get hurt, and Jacob did a phenomenal job of selling being in terror and excruciating pain, so when Rose was feeling the pain of her cohorts toward the end of the movie, I smiled because she was finally getting hers, and I hoped that she was feeling every bit of the pain and terror that she had inflicted on the young boy.

@@mrnukes797 they did it the way they did here bc the original Shining movie changed the ending as well. I thought, besides the ending, it was quite true to the book mostly, but it’s also a sequel to the film. I absolutely loved this. I might be getting a little too involved in Mike Flanagan's work process, and have been eating up everything I can get my hands on about it. He's a true inspiration for someone that, like myself, is trying to get into the movie business. He's great at tossing our emotions all around the movie, and this is the kind of horror that always gets me. I'm starting to call it "emotional horror", which seems accurate to me. I hope his projects get more attention, he surely deserves it.

There is just something so terrifying about the subject matter in a Steven King novel. For many people this movie or the shinning were not that scary. But the central theme and the characters really are terrifying. I didn't think there would be anyone brave or skilled enough to take up the Stanley Kubrick mantel, but then I remembered Geralds Game and how Mike Flanagan stayed as close to the book as he could and adding his own brilliance to it. So when I saw the trailer to this movie and saw that Mike Flanagan was directing it I was overjoyed. The man is a brilliant director and really knows how to convey everything about a story through the lense.

He actually came up with the plot of The Shining while staying at the Stanley Hotel. He had a horrible case of writer's block which disappeared after a nightmare about his child being chased down the hotel hallway by ghosts. I think if you can cure writer's block through your dreams, then you can also write amazingly terrifying bestsellers. Props to you Stephen... I 100% hope you keep it up.

I did not expect to enjoy this movie as much as I did. This is one of those movies where most directors would have stretched it into a trilogy and watered it down. There was so much going on and so many set pieces as multiple interesting characters. It was a really enjoyable film and a fun callback to the original. Criticism- I was upset Jack Nicholson didn't reprise his character. Even with de-aging CGI if needed. I was expecting it the whole movie. It's ok, but man I would have loved to have seen that.

When the filing cabinet drawer slammed on Rose The Hat’s hand, and when she experienced the pain and the horror of The True Knot meeting their end, I still had the death of Bradley Trevor in my mind, so I smiled big, particularly during the gunfight, and when she was screaming I thought “Serves ya right!”. After all the pain, suffering, and fear that she and her cult had inflicted on others, I enjoyed seeing her finally get hers. What can I say? She reaped what she had been sowing. To Rebecca Ferguson, you played your character perfectly! I have never hated any movie villain as much as I hated Rose The Hat!

I just bought the Director's cut...and watching that and seeing the director's enthusiasm, it is a pity that the movie didn't make enough box office to be considered a great success financially. I enjoyed the movie quite a bit, great cast, slow build, nice call backs to Kubrick and the books
