Ok portal memes aside, I love how the game actually has some form of physics. The portal falling feels like it has gravity and weight to it, and coming out of the portal keeps your momentum and velocity.

Loki on your team, he copies strange and real strange builds momentum with infinite portal falling and loki catapults him with a portal right above the bottom real strange portal. I think this may catapult you at insane distances but I dont have anyone to test it with

If only that portal was not on a GIGANTIC cooldown that benefits your whole team rather than a gamble of a play. Like if the portal was on a 40 second cooldown, then maybe but waiting once per round to use this tech only to probably miss majority of the enemy because you cant see or position yourself better is just a waste.

yes my friends have done this, but there's more than one way to use a portal which is the point of this and once they've fallen for it they probably won't again so you should keep backup tech

Tech wise speaking, you are using an instant seemless teleport that render 2 places in real time for 12 people + expectators(def going to be when competitive comes around) not only the render but actual projectiles have to pass and safely spawn-despawn projectiles with accuracy. This also takes a toll on the render distance and culling of objects from not only 2 places but 4 different perspectives(each portal has 2 sides) Therefore the tech requires not a good graphic card but rather good memory and not play while the computer is saturated (using memory in other stuff at thr same time)

@NonJohns Doesnt explode computers, it is based more on good CPU health and less in not beign optimized, I have been using dr strange lately, I have a 3070 TI and an old i7, no issues, it helps that I have worked the engine but that also means that good CPU health and known how to handle your memory can do a huge difference, my rig can tun games that people with 4070 and 4090 have complained many times, probably because they expect just having a monster CPU mean you dont have to take care of the health of the computer. I should clarify I am a game analyst. And that this doesnt mean that my rig is better than other on the contraty what it means that old rigs can run modern games to an extent if you actually know how to handle the charge it puts on the PC Also, it is not double rendering for the client/player, as the player only see/renders what is through the circle with culling on the rest, but the thing is many people move camera a lot to aim(not a bad thing just pointing it out) and if you are bot expecting that heavy load of info spawning despawning it will definately have a higher cost than usual but is nowhere near as double rendering unless you spawn portals way to close, causing an effect of cascade like sharing your screen share.

@Captoad Basically anything else? The momentum gain doesn't serve any purpose so there's no point in wasting time setting it up. It's funny to see the character fly out at Mach 2 but you're much better off blocking spawn doors or something.

I agree, I also wonder if characters that actually could use momentum can use it properly, say winter soldies ult, magnetos ult projectile, or even venom dive, at the end of the day this are just clever scenarios but very specific
