Yeah, I wondered if they couldn't find any dakr-haired male game skin in a suit or at least casual street clothes, that they hadn't used before, as a stand-in for Dr. Strange prior to him learning magic. I guess they wanted to keep the face. Really a missed opportunity by Epic to include a "Dr. Strange, M.D." style in normal clothes. 😕

Dr strange is my fav hero but his origin strayed a little far from the source material. I get time restraint but some key elements of his character development were left out. Still a great episode and he could just be a variant instead of main mcu timeline

THe reason the Ancient One's origin (and gender) was changed for the MCU movie from a Tibetan male monk to an androgynous-looking woman of Celtic background was simple: China. Both the movie industry and video games have to self-censor themselves these days to not offend Han-Chinese sensibilities, or more specific, the official Chinese Party line. And Tibet and Taiwan are among the biggest sticking points. So when the usual "whitewashing" complaints started on Western social media, they were missing the point entirely. (Funny that nobody complained about the gender-swap, considering what would'Ve been the reaction if it had been the other way around). The script writers changed the character's ethnic background to "ancient Celtic druid" (nevermind Druids were always male), which is just as cliché as comic book writers of days gone past make the Ancient One "Tibetan".
