On the screen showing the astronauts, the third one, this is the same actress who played Mrs Merridew ( the lady who appeared with Isaac Newton in the wild blue yonder ). She also appeared in The church on Ruby road as the lady asking to play a different song when Ruby was playing at the beginning. And she will make more appearances. Who is she????? Fun fact, the actresses name is Susan Twist.

After Rose left David Tennant doctor that’s when he they started the whole him wanting somebody to come with him because he’s lonely theme. By the way, fun fact, David Tennant’s doctor refers to Donna Noble as friend, eventually best friend. The only other doctor to actually say that a companion was his best friend was Tom Baker Doctor Who about Sarah Jane Smith. Pretty much everybody else the doctor considered just a companion, but never a friend.

The Rani mention! 😍 The butterfly compensation switch made me laugh so much - it was a perfect technobabble explanation! Loved the social commentary in the script: sci-fi has always been thus Think it ‘howled’ at the end because the Doctor adjusted the learning software. It does seem like he references the Flux when he mentions that the Universe is a mess to Ruby near the beginning of the episode Great reaction, as always 💜💜➕🌈🟦

The thing about watching Doctor Who is that at some point in most episodes you just have to accept some storytelling shortcuts and realism tweaks, and just go along for the ride. The best episodes have always involved some combination of wacky, scary, and funny in varying degrees. You can't have that many abrupt shifts in tone without suspending a huge heap of disbelief, but the payoff is so worth it when the episode gets it right. I thought this episode was alright--not a standout by any means. But, like you said, this is a good taste of what a typical plot is like.

I think it's also establishing what 15 is really like. There was a lot of conversations in this episode that demonstrated his empathy and his mindset, so it was a big character set up too.

There isn't any more story to tell with the Flux, it was a destructive force that caused lots of destruction, that's it. They mentioned it during the specials, the guilt and trauma of not being able to stop it sooner upsets the Doctor, it's basically the new Time War trauma.

The Doctor expelled regenerative energy to heal the butterfly, he did it before in the "Rise of the Cybermen" he used it to give the Tardis some power and to heal River Song's wrist in "The Angels Take Manhattan". The writers could have had him do it to save Jenny.

I😊❤ OK, so I hope this doesn’t come off sounding mean it is not meant to be, but I think what is an ongoing problem with any fandom is that the older generations and I am included in that I am 57 years old and I have watched Doctor Who forever. I think the key forgetting that this is supposed to be a kids show it’s not like high-end science fiction storytelling it’s a kids show based on science fiction/fantasy. So, you got a roll with it with these episodes some episodes are there just to be fun and silly. There’s always some story lurking in the background that if you pay attention to it, you’ll see it but most of the time it’s just silly kid fun. It’s like asking My generation to watch the original Transformers TV show when we were kids watch the Transformers EarthSpark and say well that’s silly. That isn’t how transformers is supposed to be. It’s ridiculous. It’s a show. It was always supposed to be a show rant and I appreciate you letting me do it.

😊😊 there is a basic structure to the way they are presenting Doctor Who in every incarnation there is is an episode that introduces the new companion to the far future and time travel to the past to visit historical figures general story outline individual story itself changes from Dr. to doctor. I know you noticed it right away. this is exactly like the second episode of the doctor he took Rose, millions of years into the future to the end of the universe except instead of being melancholy and sad about it. It’s a little more lighthearted, and he quickly did the cell phone thing to talk to her mother, they are not doing anything. It’s sort of like re-introducing everything as always.

I'm UPSET that Disney fucked up the numbering convention. Christmas Special = 0. Space Babies should be 1. I'm gonna need ppl with Disney influence to fix this egregiously barbaric soul-sucking mistake posthaste.. with an apology.. dance. an apology dance a la Crowley.. performed by the idiot who thought seasons start with 1. **stares mockingly down nose. I really liked Ncuti and Millie. They have great chemistry. I don't love the constant exposition of the Doctor's history to Ruby. Fifteen feels a little too trusting of Ruby. She’s this giant question mark and he’s spilling a lot of secrets to her. If he's investigating who she is in secret, I don't know if he should be giving her a TARDIS key after 24 hours of knowing her. I guess I'm just used to Nine to Thirteen being protective of their history/more mysterious.

Honestly I find the weakest part of this series the Doctor and Ruby's dynamic. They're too similar to each other. They never disagree, they enjoy all the same things, get excited in the same way, etc. I want discord, I want tension, I want something to truly show that these characters think DIFFERENTLY from each other. This episode also suffers from having babies as actors but not really trying with them. Watching them hug these completely disinterested babies is funny but also takes me out of it.
