13:00 I completely agree, Carla is brilliant. Being an adoptee myself, I love that RTD has written Carla as someone who isn’t jealous of the fact that Ruby wants to search and meet her birth parents, and the compassion she had for Ruby’s birth mother if that’s who it is was, was just amazing. I like that it’s showing that it isn’t an either or situation, that an adoptee can have both their adoptive and birth family in their lives if they want to.

Kate in full military mode is something i didn't know i needed. "You don't question, you move!" I know shes the leader of unit and has been but she's never really come across as the military leader she is to me, there was always a sort of familiar casualuality to her when ever she interacted with the doctors and companions.

It is also explicitly stated by Tom Baker's Doctor in The Pyramids of Mars that Sutekh is Satan. Carla Sunday also identifies Sutekh as The Beast.

So basically Sutekh is an egyptian god of Death that 4th Doctor encountered in the Classic Era. Back then he was bound to a chair, and the Doctor STILL barely defeated him.

@@RopeDrink No they're the same entity, Tom Baker's Doctor identifies Sutekh as Satan and Carla identified Sutekh as The Beast and Sutekh himself identifies himself by various different names including Set and Satan.

@@paulholloway7666 You are mistaking monikers and cultural cross-overs as full-on identity. They are not - and have never been - the same entity. The Egyptian-themed Osiran being worshipped, feared, or labelled as their culturally-specific Beast/Satan =/= "The Beast", which is a much more generic Satan/Devil concept. They are completely separate entities and have yet to be cemented in any way, shape or form as 'the same'. Time will tell whether Russel decides to do that in future, but as of this moment, the only ties between them are monikors and a reference to having the same voice actor.

Also (not my observation, but I'm thoroughly convinced by it) the focus of Sutekh's prison in Pyramids of Mars - the thing he had to destroy to be free - was also a ruby.

I'd also like to add that we don't know that Susan Triad isn't also Susan Foreman, just because she didn't recognise the Doctor, doesn't mean she isn't Susan - how many times has the Doctor failed to recognise the Master or the Rani? Sutekh's taunt "Did you think we were family?" could be taken multiple ways. We also don't know for sure that she is fully dead. Just because she has been possessed by Sutekh in the same way as Professor Scarman (Pyramids of Mars), doesn't mean she is fully dead. It could be that she is only temporarily dead and Sutekh's mind control is preventing her from regenerating just as it was preventing the missile from exploding in Pyramids of Mars. It might even be that this is the key to Sutekh's defeat - distract him and break his mental concentration just long enough for Susan to regenerate. If I were writing the episode this might be how I'd do it but I'm sure RTD has something much better in mind.

Sutekh is a villain from the Tom Baker - Elisabeth Sladen era story The Pyramids of Mars (referenced in School Reunion) - he's waited a long time to get back in the picture. Based on (or is) the Egyptian god of the same name.

The fact they were able to use the same voice actor I think is great for people who know the original story. And he did also voice The beast in The Satan Pit as well (Carla even said 'its the beast' when seeing the shape in the time window). I don't think Mrs Flood will be Susan (I'm half expecting The Rani but who knows). She'll be something significant but I'm thinking a more long term antagonist I do hope though that at the end of this story, the Doctor actually goes to visit Susan. We still have Carol Ann Ford and she's said she would come back I think so let's see

I think it would be good if it was her because the Rani was a significant part of Mel's time with the doctor. Okay I’m going out on the biggest limb here but hear me out… Kate says to the Doctor ‘how can you have a granddaughter before a daughter?’ Now Susan has been a constant theme so far along with who is Ruby. Now what if and a big one at that Ruby is somehow the doctors daughter and Susan’s mother. Maestro said this ‘creature is very wrong’ which could be taken as maestro thought Ruby was human but after trying to kill her they realised there’s something else going on. Leading to the question of not what was Suetekh doing on Ruby road but why would a human baby be so important? Like I said huge limb and I’m probably very wrong but I like this theory so don’t slaughter me😂

I don’t understand why the doctor wanted to get to the bottom of Susan AND Ruby at the same moment? Like the stakes kept building but they didn’t make sense. Why the moment he found the repeating lady and she was about to debut some worldwide software in literal minutes does he go on a side quest into the time room with a VHs tape? I get that everything might be related but from our protagonists standpoints that isn’t really clear. It kept taking me out of the show because I kept seeing the writers room and the number of episodes instead of a logical climax. And why was it called the legend of Ruby Sunday? Maybe that will make sense next week but for this episode I don’t feel like we learned anything new about Ruby. I’m here - I’m all in but this for sure just had a chaotic energy that felt both contrived and unearned and that bums me out.

I don't think Mrs Flood actually is bad. I think it was a fake-out. She couldn't make Cherry the cup of tea because she knew in that moment that Sutekh was coming back and that was more important. Oh, and is anyone else concerned for Ibrahim? Wasn't the worshiper of Sutekh in the Pyramids of Mars called Ibrahim? I'm hoping it's just a coincidence and he doesn't turn evil.

@@16Arson I also have a huge inkling that they’re setting Tennants regen as the Valeyard in the future. He’s said to be a a mix of the doctors darker side sometime after his 12th regen. If you notice during the bigeneration Ncuti got the lighter happier side and 14 kept the darker side.
